Super clean site!

Very helpful and friendly wardens who maintain the site to a high standard - easlily the cleanest shower block we have ever been in. A very quiet site which is close to he A303 but far enough away for no road noise. As others have said, getting out onto the A303 isn't for the faint hearted but with a bit of patience it can be done safely. There are lots of public footpaths around but Somerset doesn't seem keen on making sure they are maintained - crossing the border into Devon showed a marked improvement. In summary - a very nice site and one we hope to return to.

A lovely site

A warm and friendly welcome from both wardens. This is a lovely well kept site with clean and tidy toilet block. We would definitely return if in the area again. We love these small sites.

Good site for stop-over or exploring in vehicle

June 2023 for 3 nights. Good club site, perfect for stop-over heading to/from Cornwall. There is a good Italian restaurant (La Campagne) 1.5 mile walk along back roads (turn left out of site) though you do have to cross the A303 to get to it. 4G was good enough to stream TV. Good TV signal too. A303 is a fast road so we approached and departed with the flow of the traffic.

Rural Solitude

Recently had 11 nights on this charming rural site which is mainatined by the wardens Mandy and Sue in an exemplary state. Relief wardens on duty when we arrived who gave us a cheery welcome with full explanation of site and best pitch options for sunrise, sunset benefits. No children facilities hence 3* for families. About 14 miles off M5 so reasonably accessible for stop off's travelling south (or north) Access off the A303 a bit tricky and leaving instructions with caravan hitched to turn left are a must due to heavy traffic and road layout. Southern coastal towns only 20mls or so away and reached in 45mins. Although called Ilminster, nearest town is Chard. Plenty of attractions - National Trust Properties, Haynes Motor Museum (a must for petrolheads) and RAF museum at Yeovil to name a few. Overall very relaxing.

Fantastic hosts, exceptionally clean facilities.

We arrived just for one night en route to Putts Corner, the welcoming was really friendly and a comprehensive brief. The pitch and whole site were perfectly maintained. The facilities were immaculate and felt like a home from home. Mandy and Sue were the perfect hosts, did not just come across as wardens. We would definitely stay if we were passing through again. Unfortunately we are having the opposite experience on the site we moved onto who could learn a lot from this site.

Peaceful site -ideal to relax

Welcomed with a lovely smile and understanding of a long journey by Mandy and Sue. They even explained where the sun came up / went down, so we could chose a pitch that met our requirements. (Long evenings in the sun please!) The facilities were spotless and the grounds well maintained. There are a number of seasonal pitches here and we can understand why, it is so relaxing and peaceful. We travelled to Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Poole and even into Devon ( for a Beer at Beer) We will be back. Thank you Mandy and Sue for such a lovely short break.

Great site

We’re not sure why this site is so underused, as it is not only a great site with fabulous views and a modern toilet block, it’s also within striking distance of Dorset and Devon. In fact Devon is about a mile down the road. We have visited Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth and there are many more seaside destinations within reach. There are also some excellent national trust properties around the site and the market town of Ilminster is delightful. Also, beautiful walks from the site with breathtaking countryside. The site is quiet and beautifully maintained by the wardens and we couldn’t recommend this site enough.

Brilliant seasonal ptich

Thoroughly chuffed and enjoyed our stay here as seasonal pitch. Mandy and Sue were and are fantastic. The site is extremely well maintained, toilets block always clean. Safe as well when kids were playing or cycling. Mandy and Sue were always on hand and always had time for a chat particularly with our 3 little girls who utterly adored them. Beaches and other activities were easily avai, even a 25 min drive is fine, site very peaceful an friendly at all times. A big thankyou from us for such a great season. Not just good for stop-overs.

Can see why the site reviews thus far focus on its location being ideal as a stopover site for those battling the traffic to and from the south-west hotspots. It’s location just off the A303 makes it ideal for this purpose. But if like us, you are just looking for somewhere not too busy for a quiet week or so, even in the middle of a hot summer and mid school hols, then this is the site for you. The coast would be in reach if desired but avoiding the summer hoards was our preference so we contented ourselves pottering around the Blackdown Hills. The site was unbelievably quiet, much less than 50% occupancy at mid-week little more than a dozen outfits in use which led to the feeling of an oasis of calm. No kids play equipment but plenty of grassy space to make their own entertainment. And really, really good wardens combined with great, well-kept facilities. What more could you want - other than a way of avoiding the queues back on the A303 on the way home!
