First Trip

We arrived just before 8pm but the warden could not have been friendlier. It was our first trip in our new caravan and we could only get a grass pitch. This was not a problem as it was very quiet. On setting up and parking we were amazed at the helpfulness and friendliness of those all around who helped us novices.this also happened when we were leaving in the pouring rain and a couple helped us pull our caravan round. The facilities we found warm and spotless. There is a great walk into Wareham and the town is definitely worth a visit. From Wareham you can get a train to Poole or Bournemouth for not much more than it costs to park and great views on the way. This site is definitely worth a visit and we will definitely go back next year.

Nice site, but beware!

This year was our second visit to this site. The site itself is well located for the beach, and lots of other local places of interest. It's clean and well kept and a small children's play area is great apart from it is not managed by staff/wardens and older kids tend to sit on play equipment meaning younger ones don't get a look in. Staff are in the main not entirely friendly or helpful - no 'welcome' or 'hope you enjoyed your stay' etc. a course on hospitality would benefit!  The main issue with this site is that in one side there is a permanent travellers site hidden behind willow fencing but the chimneys are visible (hard standing area to the right of the entrance site). Dogs barking, chainsaws going, shouting, and an incredibly loud 'rave' or party until the early hours left us complaining to staff who did little to help stating they would call the site warden. It made no difference!! The travellers site is called Ash Oaks and is prior to Hunters Moon from Bere Regis direction. May have been a one off but as local Police refuse to attend such instances now (as we found out!) being kept awake spoilt our holiday. Staff made no offer of recompense for the problems, as I say - they have no hospitality skills as has been raised in other reviews of this site.  I have no issue with travellers however I disliked being kept awake with children distressed and upset as they too couldn't sleep.   On a positive note, the welcome packs for children and the geo-cache set up for them went down a treat, but these are on most caravan club sites now.  A point of note - the 'comments' book is also kept out of view and has to be requested.. This should be on view to fill in.  The shop is also very limited and the site is missing a trick here as the nearest provisions shop is in Wareham some distance away.

Comment from The Caravan Club:

Many thanks for you review. We are sorry that your stay at Hunter’s Moon was disrupted and would like to address the concerns you have raised. With regards to the play area, the wardens manage the whole site, as such they are not available to supervise the children’s play area as we state that if you have children with you on the site, you are responsible for their supervision. However, if you ever have any concerns please speak to the wardens who are always happy to help wherever they can. As you can see from other reviews, the Site Staff work hard to ensure people have an enjoyable stay and always try to be friendly and helpful. With regards to the travellers site, please be assured all official procedures by both Caravan Club staff and police are followed and we are really sorry that this impeded your families enjoyment of the site. The guest book is kept in the site reception during school holidays and is available to anyone who would like to leave a comment. I hope this has helps answer your queries and address your concerns. Thank you again for leaving a review.

queries

I wonder why wardens cant or don't have name badges on their shirts as you know who the warden is or assistant warden is when you speaking to them, and why is the comments book kept in the site office as you do not have privacy if your remarks are not very good?????.

Lovely well maintained site but....

Excessive noise from the children's play area should be better controlled by parents and if not (as was the case when we were there) at the insistence of the wardens.

Summer fun at the seaside

Ideally located for exploring the coast - this site is everything you would expect from a club site. Nice hard standing pitches with grassy sections between in pitch so you don't feel like you are in a car park. Good toliet block. The wardens had set up a treasurehunt for the children that they particularly enjoyed (3&5). Highly recommended visiting Kimmeridge and 'doing' the rock pools.

A lovely site with good walks

We didn't have to travel far to stay at Hunters Moon but we felt like we were in a different world. This is a lovely clean site with well maintained pitches & facilities. The site has its own access gate to Wareham Forrest & the walk into Wareham, although a little overgrown in places, is well worth it. Just don't forget to get the access number from reception.

Another great stay

This was our second visit this year and a fantastic time had by us and our 3 small children, the area is superb to visit and the site is peaceful and safe for the kids, the only downside on location is that you need the car to get anywhere as the local pub - walkable - doesn't welcome kids and the road is very busy and doesn't feel safe to take the kids on either walking or cycling. The wardens do a great job and everyone enjoyed the children's fun day. Toilet blocks well maintained.
