Club rules

Stayed on site for 8 nights, quiet clean site with lots to do and great transport links, can not fault the site. My only grumble is when arriving on site. The rules clearly state that pitches are available from 12 noon, so why do people arrive at 10am expecting to get on site and then staff allowing them on at 11! Reception staff should be aware of this rule, as people who follow the rules are at a disadvantage. We saw this practice most days when waiting for the bus, it's not fair to those who book well in advance and maybe a surcharge should be introduced for those who arrive early?

Have you or anyone else actually read the rule book?

I have seen the 2 dog rule somewhere. But kids on bikes scooters etc fly round the site at breakneck speed without a thought for anyone

Believe me, there is no 2 dog rule on club owned or operated sites.

There may be on some CLs or on affiliated sites but not on club sites.

It can be difficult to arrive at an exact time, many people travel great distances one family I spoke to had travelled from the Shetlands. Anyway with Holiday traffic you never know what time your going to arrive, my journey can take between 5-9 odd hours and as for stopping on way no chance everywhere full to the brim.

Early arrivals can be a major problem with sites accessed via a very narrow lane, like Treamble Valley in Cornwall. Meeting a van arriving when leaving at 11.30am is a huge problem, no room to pass unless just a car and no-one wants to reverse. For sites like this the rule should be strict, and mentioned when booking. For many others it probably doesn't matter much, unless you're worried about getting the best pitch available in which case it's best to wait until everyone leaving has actually gone!

No, but perhaps, as you obviously have, you can point out to me the specific "2 dog rule "  you are referring to? undecided

Having just come back from a weeks stay at Hillhead, I would concur that many people turn up and are obviously expecting to be admitted to the site well before the 12 noon rule.  It clearly says in the Club handbook - "no arrivals before 12 noon" - so why are people being allowed in? I can only say that it is to prevent caravans tailing back onto the road outside the site with consequential dangers this might bring.  The Club does need to seriously look into this matter as one day we were there, a caravan turned up at 8.30 am!  Part of the problem I suggest is that non-members are admitted to the site and possibly therein lies the problem; these folk do not know or understand the Club rules.  Perhaps a suitably sized board at the site entrance might be the way forward but until pitches are vacated by departees by noon, is there space anyway to let these early arrivals onto the site? The pragmatic answer is let the Site Staff decide but members need to be advised via the magazine or handbook that sites which admit non-members might have these issues.

Yep, I’ve read them.
