This site has every facility, exactly where you need it, in a peaceful and beautiful setting on the top of the hill. Early mornings offer some fabulous sunrises, preceded by the twinkling lights of passing ships on the horizon, as you walk to the conveniently located shower block. I will definitely revisit.
Lovely site and wonderful wardens
Very big thank you to Margaret for her help and kindness after a terrible tyre blowout on the M5 in our large motorhome 18 miles from the site...she had a pitch ready for us as we arrived later than expected. We were shaken up and she was so helpful. We had a peaceful couple of days ...mainly getting our tyre done ...but had a meal at the restaurant which was very nice. Lovely site and very peaceful in term time. Spotless facilities and clean site. Shame the pool was closed as we had a very sunny and warm few days. But appreciate they struggle for life guards. Thank you again for being so kind.
Large site, Busy, Usual good standards
Only stayed overnight. Site almost full and only pitch available was grass - but weather had been dry so OK and in a sunny spot. Washing facilities were the usual block which was clean with lots of toilets etc. Large site and we didn't get to see it all. Was quiet though. We did need chocks. Visited Dartmouth which is a nice place but not that much to look at within walking distance. Luckily it was lovely weather and it's nice to watch the people go by. Got the ferry across the Dart which was cheap and efficient. Nice site. Would visit again if in the area.
Great place!
Our first time on a south coast site and we were spoilt! Easy walking distance of Kingswear, Dartmouth, Brixham and Paignton (for those that like a long coastal walk!) the site also has a regular bus service to all for those not willing to walk or if the weather turns bad. We were also blessed with Glrious weather so late in September! We will definitely be returning in our MoHo!
Having a pub, restaurant, shop, onsite definitely made a difference! Staff were very friendly and helpful in finding empty pitches to try and save us time driving round to find one!

Amazing Again!
Just returned from Hillhead after spending a week on this beautifully located site. As returning members we knew the layout and soon found the perfect pitch after checking in and taking the sound advice from the ever hard working friendly Wardens. This site is so easy to access and perfect for Dartmouth, Brixham and Paignton.
Motorhome owners like us can use the local bus services available from the site entrance as some local roads are easier by car or bike. Having read reviews just prior to arriving and one this morning,I feel that some comments aren’t justified or helpful as we met our Caravaning friends on site who were worried about the negativity! Needless to say they have now booked for 2022!!
Re comments from Marcus on early arrival of Motorhomes and moving pitches at 7-30am! We saw early lines of vehicles and would probably say it was 50/50 split ! Motorhomes can easily move pitch without the upheaval of caravans but was never bothered, woken or upset by a fellow Club Member wanting a better pitch! Surely if someone has arrived late in the day to a very busy site and can only find a less attractive pitch, they are within their rights to move, especially if they are staying for one or two weeks.
We highly recommend this site, it’s wardens and encourage new visitors not to be put off by so many negative comments.

Nice site but spoiled by the selfish
Second time of visiting the site however the previous occasion was six years a go.
Fantastic location and the wardens very friendly and work hard to keep the site and facilities clean.
Nice to have entertainment and a bar/restaurant on site for those evenings we chose to stay in however disappointed that the entertain, ent had been cut back to four nights and no bingo.
The site is a little difficult to navigate due to the dead ends which can make finding a pitch a little hard when towing.
The biggest gripe with the site and it seems to be a trend growing across the club sites where there is a mixture of grass and hard standing pitches under the one booking umberella is the ever growing motor home brigade who arrive on site a number of hours early prior to the alotted check in time presumably to get a better pitch.During our stay they were rocking up as early as 10am and being allowed on site.
Then every morning from about 7.30am there would be several motor homes driving around the site looking to move on to a better hard standing pitch. Not only is a noisy diesal engine at 07.30 not very nice when its driving past you every morning but more importantly as a caravan owner turning up looking for a pitch having paid the same price and membership there are no hard standings available as they have all been taken up by a motor home moving pitches every morning.
About time the club addressed this growing trend with a booking system change or stopping pitch hopping. The main stay of the club has been the caravan owner however if this continues then I and many other caravan users that I spoke to will be looking to leave as it seems we are now playing second fiddle to the motor home member
Great site in fantastic location
Really enjoyed our stay. Management very friendly and facilities excellent. Our children loved the playground. Easy drive to Brixham and Darrmouth. Great views of the bay from the top field. Will def recommend and be back. Thanks.
A.small thing I would change would be the 1030 time to close and clean the toilets & showers. This is still the morning before alot of people check out so was disruptive. Ideally a time in the afternoon would be better.
Better than expected
Nearly cancelled after reading some of the previous reviews so was pleasantly surprised how good the site was. Although we were lucky to be on a service pitch on the top half of the site, with a lovely sea view. Not sure I would like some of the pitches at the bottom of the site as very enclosed with no views. Some of the pitches were also rather cramped, only room for the caravan and awning and had to park the car across the front. Wifi hit and miss, no idea how it has a silver rating. We had glorious sunshine so disappointed that the pool was closed along with the restaurant on two of the nights of our four night stay. Plenty to do in the surrounding area and Burgh Island, Bigbury on sea not to be missed.
A lovely site and loads to do
We stayed on this site for a week in early September and had a very relaxing time. The site does have a complex layout but which offers various pockets of seclusion surrounded by hedges with each taking about three pitches. Yes – it does take a bit of exploring to identify available pitches especially when the site is full as it was when we visited. Nevertheless they are generously proportioned and good privacy is afforded. The site was very clean and excellently maintained. The site shop is reasonably well stocked and the restaurant/bar was popular. We too were very disappointed to find that the swimming pool closed the day after we arrived and only managed to have one swim in what was a wonderful swimming pool. Regrettably the site seems to rely on student labour for supervision and who had to return at the beginning of university term. There are bus stops immediately by the site entrance with regular services down to Kingswear Where there is the steam Railway station and ferries giving passenger and motor-vehicle Transport over to Dartmouth. We use this for service and very on several occasions to start with is a lovely place to visit. It has good shops and an easy bus service onto Totnes. Buses also run regularly from the site down into Brixham which again is a lovely place to visit. It is not a good site from which to take easy cycle rides as the nearby roads are steep. There is a lovely National Trust property ( Coleton Fishacre ) within a couple of miles with beautiful gardens and a art deco architecture house built by the D’Oyly Carte family. One serious downside to the site from our point of view was the dreadful Wi-Fi service and which was also the subject of much complaint by other visitors. This was all the more disappointing as the BT mobile service was also particularly bad. We did however receive good TV reception through our satellite receiver. All in all – a great site and very good facilities. Highly recommended.
