Different!

We stayed here for 4 nights in July on our way to Cornwall. We managed to get a pitch with stunning sea views. Unfortunately the other side of the hedge was the football field and the constant kicking of balls became irritating. Midweek when the kids were back at school and this wouldn't have been a problem. The site was fine with bus stops outside the entrance. Everything was up to the usual Caravan Club standard but this is a big site and it was very busy. If you like peace and quiet, Hillhead probably won't suit you. Football noise aside an enjoyable stay.

Fabulous family holiday

This is our second visit to the site and my children are already planning next years visit. The pool and the football pitch is just great and well used. The atmosphere is lovely for families and we were all well catered for. The pitches are lovely and the privacy is good. The club house is lovely and the Sunday Carvery is recommended. The shop is well stocked and the site has a safe and secure feeling. My children felt confident enough to go to the shop for a morning paper daily. Thank you Hillhead for another great 2 weeks.

Lovely for the children

We stayed here last week, taking our two grandaughters. It was much better than expected - we usually go away out of season. The girls loved the pool and other facilities. Yes as others have said it is a little tight packed and can be very noisy but it is at the height of the season. To the reviewer who wants the hedges done away with - please no, they supply a lot of privacy, which is lovely. However, I must give full credit to the Wardens, oh my goodness what a difficult job on this site. Firstly it is clear that arrival time is after 12. We stopped in a layby to make sure we weren't early, we arrived just after 12 and found that we were 'parked' on the road as many caravans were already queuing at the gate. This is a dangerous situation but what are the Wardens to do - if they let people in early then everyone will keep arriving early, if they make people wait then there is a queue on a busy road, they cant win! Its very clear - the book in time is after 12 how hard is it! Full credit to these wardens, they manage this mayhem (caused by selfish members determined to get there early), keep the site lovely and still manage to be helpful and smile. Thank you.

Great for Families

This was our 1st time at this site and we chose it for the facilities which are great for kids. The site was clean and tidy and the wardens very helpful and friendly. There's a bus stop outside which was most convenient. The only issue was the wifi, having paid a yearly payment to the Caravan Club we just couldn't connect, very poor signal. Would definitely revisit this site as great for our family needs.

Hillhead Caravan Club Site

Arrived early and there were a number of people booking in. The service was excellent and quick. The park was full but everything ran smoothly. Facilities were excellent. All staff were very helpful and kind. The bus service right outside the park was a bonus. This site is a Credit to the Club. Thank you for making out holiday so easy and enjoyable. Ken and Ali

Never Again

I have just returned from Hillhead Caravan Club Site, Brixham and I was extremely disappointed with site and also the wifi  service. This is my first year with the Caravan Club after being an independent and avid caravane'r since I was a child with my parents and which has continued for almost for 55 years. The Site The arrival procedure is terrible, ( I have since been informed ALL Caravan Club Sites are the same) ie:  "Leave your car and caravan at reception sir and go and find a pitch" ,  WHAT  no booking of pitches in advance, go and find my own, and all for £490. I think it is about time you introduced a booking service similar to  Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. Gorsethorpe, Near Edwinstowe, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. NG21 9HW. Telephone: 01623 823132 Email: info@sherwoodforestholidaypark.co.uk  call them, select a pitch from their list  of available places via their siteplan/layout, which they will email to you on request and know exactly where you are situated. it is 2,559 meters to walk around the site looking for a pitch. As I'am disabled I was able to send my wife as the 'advanced scouting party' and I was then situated on pitch 61, luckily pitch 60 was also available for my brother otherwise we could have ended up at the opposite ends of the camp.  WiFi As I was situated on pitch 61 the wifi repeated aerial was just across from me but my ability to connect and maintain a stable connection was abysmal.  Having spoken to a few of the other's on the site even pitch 57 (4 meters from the repeater could not get online) I did contact Airangle direct but this had no affect on my service and was a waste of a phone call. I have a 7 minute video of my attempts to try and connect to the wifi service, the video can be viewed on youtube I did manage to get a connection, but only by using my own mobile phone as a 'MOBILE HOTSPOT'  I think that the Caravan Club should abandon the wifi service and/or offer it free of charge  where by you login using your membership number. There may be other sites that the service is acceptable but NOT at HILLHEAD Today (Monday 10 august) I did contact the Caravan Club to voice my complaint by telephone on 013420326944 as per your Compliments/Complaints information page via your website, I asked to speak to the Site Operations Department re wifi, I was then redirected to your bookings dept and put on hold.  Mr R V Smith

Brilliant site

We have just returned from our first visit to Hillhead.and can honestly say it was a very pleasant site, with plenty to do great for the dogs, lovely friendly staff and views to die for! Of course the weather helps but the atmosphere is very important as some sites seem very restrictive and unfriendly....but not here. We didnt want to leave but the place was full,so we had no choice, but we are booking the next available dates. Go there and see for yourselves.

Another fabulous visit to a wonderful site

We reluctantly returned home from Hillhead yesterday after a 14 night stay. What can I say that I haven't before... this site is amazing perfect for families and couples alike. The location is perfect if you want to venture out and explore the local area and there is a regular bus service right outside the gate. However if you don't want to venture out there's no need the facilities are brilliant the shop is always well stocked and reasonably priced, the pool is lovely, well heated and extremely clean and safe, always manned by several very effective lifeguards. This site is always immaculately kept, which is no small feat for a site this size and a site that is so popular and busy and is a real credit to the wardens. The dog walk is a good size and there is a fantastic park area for the children and a very large playing field with spectacular views over Torbay. All the wardens on this site are friendly helpful and nothing is too much trouble but I have to mention Chris and Tina ( wardens) who have been on this site for the last three years we have visited, both summer time and New year and were previously at Looe when we visited there, they never fail to amaze me at the level of customer service they provide they go above and beyond to ensure that everyone's holiday goes as smoothly as possible and are always willing to help, I hear its their last season at Hillhead and I for one will miss them dearly we are returning again in two weeks for the Dartmouth regatta and simply cannot wait and will be there New year to welcome in the new year and to wish Chris and Tina Bon Voyage and all the best for the future.

First visit

This was our first visit to this site and would most certainly use this again. Very clean and well kept with excellent facilities for families and couples alike. The wardens were always friendly and mostly helpful. I do however have one criticism which has been mentioned by other members previously and this is that when we arrived (we had booked a service pitch) and we were told to go and have a look and let them know which we wanted. The scene is that at the time it was pouring down with rain really heavy. Two of the pitches were very close together so we chose to look at these two and picked one of them. What we were not told was that really these two pitches were not really big enough for our twin axle caravan and car, but as far as we were aware they were all this size, which we found out later this was not the case. As a consequence when we parked our car on the pitch it did not leave the regulation distance between our car and the neighbours. The wardens were constantly telling us to move the car closer to our van to try and get this distance right despit them also constantly admitting that we should have been told not to choose thos pitches when we arrived. I fully understand the reasons for the m trying to maintain this distance for safety reasons but to also continually keep telling either myself or my wife to move the car despite them agreeing what we would do started to wear a little thin after 9 days! however as I said at the beginning all other features of the site were very good.
