Lovely site……..BUT such a noisy road ….day and night

We have just returned home after 4 nights at this lovely site. The wardens are doing an excellent job at keeping it looking very clean and tidy despite the lovely crunchy autumnal leaves. Great facilities and pitches are all you come to expect from the high standards of CAMC. But……. We were situated right beside the main road into Henley where the 60mph kicks in from 40mph - this is a very very noisy stretch of road. We wear earplugs at night and these were a necessity here. This was during a cold spell so windows were barely opened on caravan but still it felt like lorries were thundering through the site, at speed. On arrival we were told that there were very few pitches available and not surprisingly the ones which were available were along the roadside, even though there were several empty across the far side but because we weren’t using an awning we were not allowed to use! We definitely liked the site and the proximity to Henley but would only return if we were guaranteed a spot away from the road. The walk into Henley is along a narrow path which takes approximately 20 mins.

Lovely campsite with a great location

Lovely campsite with a very warm welcome from the moment we arrived. Yes, the road is close by but it did not affect our stay (we were pitched in the middle of the site). Nice clean and heated facilities. The footpath into Henley is narrow in places. Takes about 15 minutes to walk into the town which is full of history, shops, cafes and of course The River Thames. The campsite is also a great location for exploring the Chilterns. Would definitely recommend this site.

All the good things you expect from CAMC but the road, wow.

This site is a fairly short walk in to Henley upon Thames and so the location is good and Henley is a really busy place with lots to see and do. The final resting place of Dusty Springfield to name but one. Obviously the facilities are the usual high standard and the staff are the usual helpful and friendly bunch. However, the elephant in the room. The road that runs next to the campsite ruins the whole thing for me. It is fast and noisy. Peace and quiet on the site is non-existent thanks to this and the walk in to town is not at all enjoyable. Taking young children or dogs on a walk in to town would be heart in your mouth stuff. The footpath is not very wide and switches sides half way. If you can live with the road then a visit to this site is a must. If you at least know about the road then you can be ready for it and your stay can still be great.

Lovely clean facilities and very helpful friendly staff.

This is the second time that I have stayed at Henley Four Oaks. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very good and clean. You can walk into Henley town from the campsite in 15mins. It is only a short walk to the local bus stop for buses to Marlow and Henley and other towns. Henley is a very nice town with good shops and a lovely river walk. A number of N.T. propertiesare nearby.

Love this site

Our 2nd visit here. Great site, very friendly staff, very clean, nicely spaced out pitches. We based ourselves here to visit oxford, and national trust places, Waddesdon manor is a must to visit about an hour away, also The Harry Potter Studios....Although the road is right next to the site it didn't bother us for noise at all.

Ideal location for Henley

Stopped here for a few days to celebrate my Granddaughters' birthday. The location is ideal for Henley , a 15 min walk in . There are some beautiful walks in the area as well as being close to London and Harry Potter world. The site is amongst trees but is not very private as there are no bushes etc between pitches. The road noise is quite loud as the site is by a main road into Henley. After a lot of rain the site was flooded in one area and the wardens were pumping out water. The showers were clean but a little dated , this seems to be true of a lot of their sites now. The rubbish and recycling is by the main gate rather than by the service points which is a bit annoying especially as it rained quite a lot during my stay. The wardens were pleasant and helpful and there was useful information point.Would definitely stay again as the location is perfect .

Great Location

Have just had 9 days here and this being our 3rd time staying at this great location for Henley On Thames, also having a bus stop a short walk from the site is convenient and goes to Marlow, along with the train in Henley which gets you into London for a day out and thanks to Site Manager Lisa who pointed us in the right direction as the booking office at the station was closed each time we went to ask for info. It’s a 15 minute stroll into Henley on Thames which is a nice place to explore along with the option of boat trips on the Thames. Had a nice meal at The Stag and Huntsman at Hambleden a lovely village well worth the short journey from the site. The site has road noise during the day but that’s because the site is so close to Henley but didn’t spoil out time at Henley Four Oaks Club thanks to the Site Managers for a lovely stay.

Brilliant Bank Holiday Break

We stayed at Henley over the August bank holiday weekend. The site is small, beautifully kept and ideally located for visiting Henley. The pitches are well spaced out and level. The wardens met up with a smile and friendly welcome and gave us our choice of available pitches. The site was fully booked as expected for a bank holiday so we didn't have a huge choice. We ended up on Pitch 78 which was quite close to the road. We could hear the road but it didn't affect us and the noise was much less than we had expected from reading previous reviews. We will definitely come back again. Our only minor gripe was the drive over grey waste disposal. It really isn't the easiest for a motorhome and a driveover grid would be much easier to use. Only a minor complaint though and wouldn't stop us revisiting.

August 2024 Unexpected extended stay

With trees, lawned areas and pitches in small cul de sacs rather than regimented lines we found the site to be charming. The single facility block, it is not a large site, were to the usual club standard and maintained clean and tidy at all times by the warden team. The wardens on duty during our stay, Paul & Tracy were helpful positive kind and welcoming during our stay and really made a difference in helping our minor crisis not turn into a drama. Our tow car broke down toward the end of our stay, and the site was fully booked over the weekend after we should have left. Paul and Tracy once advised of our predicament immediately organised an "emergency pitch" to tide us over and helped us manually reposition the van during his lunch hour. Big thanks. In the end our 4 night stay ended up bring 9 nights and to be honest we had a great time, walking into Henley etc. Our intention is to return next year. Notes: TV reception poor but no problem if you connect to the bollard TV point. We used an EE sim card in our router and the 2g setting on our MiFi system to stream TV/ Tinterweb etc. (Reception on the Smarty Sim was poor and inadequate for streaming) Our hard standing was OK for steel awning pegs....didn't bend any unlike Knareborough! Only bins now at site entrance but expect this to be new club standard. Don't turn up early, there is no where to queue without blocking one of the main roads into Henley, not a popular move. No serviced pitches :-( but it's a small site and it's not too far to the nearest service point from any pitch.

Will definitely return here!

We booked into this site in order to attend. Rewind South festival. Location is close enough to walk into Henley (approx 15 mins) along a pavement. Very helpful and courteous welcome from Lisa with clear guidance on site facilities and amenities. Pitch was flat (we opted for hard standing with electric hook up) and easily accessible. Toilet block was spotless, showers hot and not subject to push button operation - shower on and stays on, perfect. Site is quiet, plenty of trees to offer shade and character. Will definitely return here.
