It's OK but......
This is not one of the club's more aesthetically pleasing sites. If you enjoy open grassy areas and a feeling of spaciousness then this may not be for you. What grass there is is somewhat heavily weed infested in areas and the thin strips between pitches can be scruffy.
The available area has been used to its maximum to squeeze in pitches and it is more like a caravan park than I would expect from a club site but then the other side of that coin is that more people can stay during busy times. At the time of writing the newly refurbished northern side is about to open. Certainly that appears to be more attractive than the southern side with it's adjacent farm yard and large muck heap (a little too odorous on a warm day). Many of the pitches are on a sideways slope so levellers are needed. Bring a TV aerial extension lead to plug into the service point as the TV reception is very variable from not too bad to no signal.
On the plus side, dog owners have one of the best dog exercise areas I have seen; a whole meadow with a nicely mown path network. There is plenty of space to throw balls and my dog just loved it. There is a play area for children but nothing to play on. Its a case of bring your own.
Hawes centre is a short walk from the site.
This is a convenient site for using as a base for activities in the area, particularly hiking, as there are some interesting walks clustered around the area. There are club sites that I return to because I enjoy the site but Hawes is not one that I would add to that list.
