Happy at Sixty Nine

Due to personal circumstances we had to bring forward our total stay by 1 day. Very easy to achieve, very friendly and very prompt. On arrival we were given a very pleasant welcome. Also we had to have a number of parcels delivered, again a wonderful degree of help from all the staff at reception.  This site has fabulous pitches with the super pitches better than anything we have experienced before. Wonderful views from the pitches. Beautifully maintained and the toilets were spotless. Wi-Fi was excellent and this is before the upgraded system is connected to a new fibre line.  Would certainly visit again.

Apology Accepted!

Having written my negative review I was swiftly contacted by a partner of the Grantown site to apologise unreservedly for our experience and say that in future this situation should never arise again, for anyone. Sandra's email was very sincere and has undoubtedly left me with a much warmer feeling - to the point that when we next return to visit our friends in Scotland we will definitely give it another go. Although this will probably not be until next Spring, I will of course update my review afterwards and am quietly confident it will be much more positive. So, in all, it looks like I will be back!

Won't Be Back

Having prebooked and paid upfront for a superpitch, with an email stating we owed no money, we were confronted with a warden adamant we owed money as we had been quoted the wrong price! We would not be allowed on site without paying more, even for a standard pitch. Feeling totally humiliated and not being at all happy (and not knowing how we stood legally) but needing a pitch for the night, we paid the minimum possible and were given probably their smallest pitch on site also on a ridiculous slope - not great for a 7.5m motor home! The facilities were quite frankly filthy and showers disgusting and numbers totally inadequate for the size of site. The wardens were the most unfriendly and unhelpful we have ever met - this Affiliated Site is not at all upto the usual Caravan Club standard and nothing would entice us back there. Such a shame for a pleasant location.

Town and country

We have stayed at this affiliated site several times and always enjoyed our visit. Situated in the middle of the town, there is a warm welcome waiting at reception. Whether a first visit or not you are always escorted to your pitch and offered assistance if required. We usually opt for a fully serviced pitch, these having the advantage of not only power and water but a satellite dish too. All the pitches are spacious, with plenty of depth and width, and, since our first visit, more are fully serviced. The layout, too, is good, as the terracing adds to the spacious feeling and gives views of the Cairgorms,( these still had snow on them for our May visit). There are several static vans and cabins scattered around the site. It's an easy walk into town. The local shops supply most requirements. Exploring a little further there are walks along the Spey and through the Anagach woods. It isn't too far to Aviemore either with everything a walker/climber/ skier could want. Inverness is about half an hour north up the A9. There's plenty to see. We walked the lower slopes of Cairgorm and around lake morlich and saw ptarmigan, grouse and reindeer, (the latter were in the car park) all at close range. We also walked the hill behind the Grantown site and surprised a hare in the heather.

Great site

I have been coming to this caravan site for a number of years now in my motorhome. It's one of the best sites I've been to. Lovely surroundings and within easy reach of the town centre. Loads of nice walks, so you can basically do whatever you want from day to day. Avimore is a short drive and plenty to do and see around there as well. Toilet facilities and cleanliness of site second to none. Would highly recommend this site to anyone

What a super site

What a lovely site beautifully set out. Lots of super pitches which we wish we had chosen but we had put our awning up before we realised the extras they would offer.  We had a good sized pitch though and had good TV signal.  Shower facilities were the best we had had.  So many lovely walks from the site.  We could have done a different one every day for weeks, so brilliant for the dog.  Just a ten minute walk into the town, and a great Co-op at the end of the road.  Would definately return to this site.

Superb, excellent. top quality .....

Just read the last few reviews and disagree with them. We went the second week in August and it wasn't noisy. just kids having fun and creating memories. We were next to the park and the noise was fine. The kids (including ours) were kicked off at nine in line with the sites operating times. Yes we had the strimmers going one morning but the grass has to get cut some time. We had a super pitch which was £30 a night - Free Wi Fi, Free HD Freesat via a box and all cables that they give you. We got hundreds of channels. Plus water in and waste water out. BEST SUPER PITCH WE HAVE HAD TO DATE. The pitches were tight size wise but not restrictive. Yes a warden does show you to a site on a moped with no helmet but I wouldn't view that as the standard of H&S. I saw kids on bicycles going faster without a helmet on! This site is perfect for the Cairngorms and exploring. There is soooooo much today. We walked up the Cairn Gorm because our dog couldn't go up on railway but could come down! Well worth doing either on train or foot. One downside was the showers, or lack of them, and at peak times you had to queue. Grantown On Spey is excellent and has all the facilities you need. Go to the Candy Box sweet shop on the high street. I spent a fortune in there on me and the kids. There are plenty of dog walks behind the site so make sure you use them - even if you dont have a dog! We were fortunate to find a local highland games and this was fantastic. Check out local events in August. If you like real ale then the Cairngorm Brewery in Aviemore is worth a visit. We will definitely return here. There were three of us including my 14 year old son and also a friends family of five with kids aged 10, 14 and 15. Plenty to do. Enjoy.

Good location disappointing site

Wardens friendly and helpful. Large site. We felt the standard pitches were too close together compared with other sites - nextdoors awning was almost touching our car and it was only a  tandard sized awning. We were awoken quite early one morning by a gardener strimming at the back of our caravan and all along the row this went on for about 30 minutes. In the  old shower block near us it would have been helpful if the full size wooden doors had been labelled and it was not easy to see they were actually showers. We enjoyed the ride on the funicular railway at the Mountain Centre near Aviemore, great views and also visited the Oaprey Centre and were fortunate to see a make and female osprey. Lots more to do and see in the area however we won't be going back to this site.
