Nice site but staff has attitude problem

This site is large and have a nice view. Facilities are just fine, older compared to other site we stayed. The biggest issue is the attitude for the staff working there. Their attitude makes me feel uncomfortable, like they are teaching me instead helping me. Use less "You CAN'T", "DON'T do" may be helpful. When they say "You can't stay here tonight", they must feel like a boss.

Gowerton caravan site

Nice large site dont bother to stay while covid is here. Toilets and showers open thats a laugh 2 toilets and 2showers one queue so if your female you will be there a while.no reason why more can be open and 2queues one for toilets and showers.Wardens miserable try smiling. You would be better off on a cl site because you are paying just for a flooded wet field lots of biting insects.Best bit hearing an owl at night nothing else positive to say. Oh and all your rubbish to be put in large bin at entrance. Why are we all paying premium rates for a field?.

Enjoyable Bank Holiday stay

We enjoyed a lovely 2 night bank holiday stay at Gowerton, taking advantage of a trip to the Mumbles seafront which is a short drive away and enjoying the relaxed site for the rest of the time. We pitched up a hard standing which was decent enough, and I imagine if we'd arrived much later than the earliest midday arrival time we'd have been out of luck. That said, the grass pitches were well maintained and spaced so we wouldn't have minded too much. The only slight downside to our stay was the demand for facilities was such that queues formed at peak times, particularly for the ladies. Only three people were allowed into the facilities at any one time with only one block available, so over a busy bank holiday demand was high. It did seem as thought the site was restricting the number of pitches in use as there were plenty of spare capacity, so perhaps that was to help with demand on facilities. Overall, I'd recommend the site. Easy access from the M4 and a great base to explore the Gower. We'll be back!

Very enjoyable week

Very clean and tidy site with plenty of room. The facilities were closed due to Covid but they are central to the site. A really good dog walk at the site plus access to the playing fields. We had lots of rain add the site does hold the water! Our hard standing had water pooling and some of the others had a lot of water puddling. Understandable as the site is, I would suggest, at sea level or very close to it. Hard standings were fine. Easy to get the pegs in with a lump hammer. Tesco express a 10 mi walk away and plenty of supermarkets within 15 minutes by car. Lovely cycle ride to the Mumbles or Swansea. Both about 8 miles and mostly flat each way. Easy ride towards Llanelli as well. Both routes are mainly traffic free. Oxwich allow dogs on the beach (£5 car park! Ouch. )and a wonderful walk from Cresswell Bay to the Mumbles.

Enjoying the Gower from a CS

Gowerton was initially our post lockdown choice, our first choice had to be cancelled! Gowerton phoned two weeks before our stay to say we could not pitch as they were flooded! It seemed like a fated time! We then managed to secure our booking, eventually for a six night stay. (I assume through cancellations). Family joining us later in the week. What a great choice we made. So easy to travel to, a large, well managed site and within easy reach of the whole of the Gower peninsula. During this unprecedented time, emotions from everyone are heightened, not least when the site is still struggling with wet grass pitches near to the side road from high tide and winds blown in at the beginning of the estuary! Staff were overwhelmed with this years events, so a little understanding and compassion goes a long way! On arrival, we missed out on the last hard standing pitch but found a dryer grass pitch under trees and near the site road. The following morning, once vacated, we pitched on hard standing and settled for the duration. A similar little shuffle from a family member on their arrival and we were all good and next to one another! Bonus! Staff went out of their way to accommodate and with a little flexibility on our part, all was well. Plenty to do; A great cycle ride from the site to Mumbles, riding through the old valley rail route 4. Fantastic beaches and headland to explore within a short drive away and nearby amenities to stock up and refuel! I loved the site so much, I have booked a two week stay next year! I need to explore the other side of the estuary! I also want to return to the areas we visited. It will be via regular public transport next time, as we have a motorhome. Just loved it. FYI; Everyone os responsible for their own hygiene and cleanliness of what they use. Leave areas as you would expect to find them. The wardens are working under extreme circumstances and are going above and beyond to keep sites open for us all to enjoy. Gowerton keep doing what you are doing and we will see you next year. Thank you

What a Pleasant Site in a Great Location

Stayed at this excellent Club Site en-route to and from Tenby. This was our first visit to Gowerton and what a pleasant welcome we received from Chris, one of the Wardens, on our arrival. All was explained very clearly and efficiently. We quickly found a favourable pitch, although there are many pleasant pitches which are mostly very-well maintained, except for a couple of grass areas where inconsiderate Caravanners have selfishly not lifted their ground sheets regularly, resulting in large bare patches in the grass. The toilet blocks were always very clean, including the showers that were obviously individually being used more often, due to Corvid social distancing requirements. We walked to the Local shops including the nearby Tesco Express and drove observing some of the spectacular local scenery, plus enjoyed some great meals locally. Summary: A Very well laid-out site, maintained and tendered by the current wardens and we will definitely visit again. Thank you for such an enjoyable stays!

Lovely site in stunning area

We stayed at this site for five nights. We received a very warm welcome - usual Caravan Club standards of large pitches and the shower/toilet blocks were open and immaculate. The access road was single lane but we did not have any problems, although we did not travel in rush hour! The main road had cycle paths on either side, so no problem when out walking. Excellent cut through into the playing park where dogs are welcome - they only ask that people clear up after them. This area has the third highest tidal range in the world, and it is quite interesting to watch the river outside the campsite flowing one way and then the other. This road does flood at most high tides. We visited several areas of this stunning coastline, including Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili where the beaches were so huge you barely bumped into a soul. Our collie had the time of his life racing around and chasing seagulls. Mewslade Bay near Rhossili is well worth a visit just to see the tidal range. Thoroughly recommend this site, and would love to return.

good location for touring the gower penninsula

This site was in a great location for touring the gower. The site is very well kept and the pitches a great size. The dog walk is amazing , one of the best we have seen on a caravan site and it’s important to us with 4 dogs. We didn’t use the facilities as although they were open we used our own. The wardens were all very nice and had a chat with you nearly every day. The only issue we had was freight trains thundering through in the early hours of the morning. But the site can’t help that. We just pushed our ear plugs on further 😄. Would definitely return.

Disappointing

I cannot understand why this site has been described as being in a lovely location, in our view it isn’t. Yes, there are many lovely places in this area, but you need a car, or be a long distance cycler to avail yourselves of them. This immediate area is dull and uninviting. When we arrived we were looking for a plot & a helpful chap dissuaded us from being in the front field, as he said it was close to the road, and noisy, so we went right to the back of the site and set up on a very nice pitch. Five minutes after setting up a very long goods train went by, we were about 40 yards from a railway line. The trains pass frequently. The site is a standard MHCC site, well laid out and neat and tidy, but there it ended for us.
