Trips to Gowerton.

We have stayed at the Gowerton site many times over the years , as it is very convenient to Gower and family. We have always found the staff extremely polite and helpful, especially under the very difficult restrictions that Covid has put on us all. They have maintained their patience despite having caravanners who consistently moan, are rude and refuse to accept the fact that the rules are imposed by the government of Wales and CAMC.....it is not their personal decision!!! I agree that their needs to be considerable investment in making more hard standings, as there have been several occasions when a large part of the site is under water. So I would like to thank the staff....not criticise them. Well done!!

Not the best!

First time to this site but probably the last. Good location for touring the Gower but too many negatives unfortunately. A lot of weeds and grass on the hard standing pitches and not a lot of signs of anything being done about this. Having to take all waste to the main entrance is frankly just not acceptable. Only site we’ve ever been on where you have to do this. Totally inadequate facilities for a site of this size, even in none Covid times. Wardens not overly friendly. Too many grass pitches which could do with converting to hard standing, particularly as the site is liable to flooding. Pity as this could be a really nice site. Just needs a number of things changing.

Security needs attention

Our pitch in the shade , 113, was perfect for the heatwave but it proved to be a security risk being next to a lay-by allowing access to the site by thieves. We stayed there five nights and on two nights we had attempted theft of our bikes. Wardens touched on the risk so we locked them onto our tow bar; it didn’t stop the culprits removing the covers and attempting to unlock them. One unlucky neighbour had a bike stolen from their bike rack. Wardens informed but said cctv not working. The thieves came back a second night but we disturbed their efforts by switching on lights and talking loudly. Clients in our corner shortened their holiday because they didn’t feel safe. Two toilets and two showers not adequate for 120 pitches; wardens following guidelines. However 1.5 hours still allocated to clean the reduced number caused inconvenience to several clients. Unfortunately we left feeling we wouldn’t return to this site.

Disappointed

Unfortunately the negative by far outweighed the positives. Just not enough facilities! There is an expectation you will use your own toilet..... what if you haven’t got one? This needs to be clear in advance of arrival. You can have 60 000 at Wembley but only 3 people in the toilet block at one time...There only 3 toilets and two showers in the women’s and Men’s anyway..Also all facilities close every day from 10.15-11.30....... no alternatives are available. This caused us not just significant inconvenience but also anxiety and stress. We don’t have facilities and alway check that toilets etc are available before we book. Even if you have your own surely you should be able to use on site facilities that you are paying for?The wrist band system was unnecessary and just didn’t work! Why should people queue for a toilet when 2 are free? I saw a child in considerable distress as 2 people were having showers and she was too scared to go in. Not acceptable These COVID restrictions were completely over the top! Even in non COVID times there probably not enough toilets considering the number of pitches. I raised this with one staff member who said they were just obeying the rules. If this is the case we think the Caravan Club needs to do some explaining.... Others have commented on staff rudeness, especially the woman. Yes I witnessed this first hand several times. But at other times she was very friendly and helpful. I also witnessed a much younger male member being very aggressive and rude to another customer because she had dared to go into to the empty/ clean toilet 15 minutes before it was due to reopen. His behaviour was inappropriate and unprofessional. Also no adequate recycling available. No idea why? Considering this site is prone to flooding (not the staff’s fault obviously) more hard core pitches would be helpful........ we saw one caravan get stuck in the mud.......... Site has great potential...... but needs more toilets! At present this issue is crucial. Perhaps a bit of training on good customer service for some staff as well. We are key workers and I work in frontline customer service. COVID has been a terrible time for every one as we all know........but it doesn’t excuse what was going on on this site!

Excellent site... But

Excellent stay at Gowerton site. Excellent friendly wardens. Supermarket handy as we are motorhomes, but one thing this site lacks is more hardstanding as the grass pitches suffer flooding with heavy rain. Site recommended as central to the Gower and good transport links, ie train station and on main bus route.

A week at Gowerton

What can we say about our stay at Gowerton!First the weather was not good, the grass pitches became waterlogged and water came up through the awning carpet. The wardens decided to remove all recycling bins to farthest part of site hence no recycling took place, rubbish held outside vans and rats were seen on several occasions.Food vans ie fish&chips banned by wardens.Only one facility bloc and the wardens closed over 50% of these 2 showers, toilets, washrooms, hence queues of up to 1/2 hour only 3 bands available.Attitude of wardens poor and aggressive at times especially when complaints flooded in,they said any more complaints and he would shut the whole facilities down.outside dish wash closed but inside open, bizarre.cleaning of facilities 10.15 to 11.30,this was regimental to the extent of refusing entry 5mins before sending at least one person to tesco to use their loos.Subsequently bands disappeared over night and for a day the system worked well using common sense, yet more closure threats with a signs to the contrary .Summing up,could be a good site if the wardens were replaced,2nd bloc built and grass pitch drainage sorted.

Really helpful staff in a crisis

We cannot fault the staff at this site. We had booked in for a week but sadly discovered a major problem with our caravan when we were setting up. The team gave us details of a mobile engineer (although unfortunately he could not help ) and were very helpful when we had no option but to cancel the rest of our stay. It’s a lovely site - well laid out and near excellent beaches so we’ll be back. This site is well managed by a lovely team.

Gowerton

Only 2 showers and 2 toilets in the Men's block. Not sufficient for over 120 pitches. This place needs another toilet block. There are no bins at the service points. You must put your rubbish in an industrial bin by the entrance. This site is very good for cycling with an excellent route to the Mumnles. Apart from the woman the staff were friendly and helpful.

Men's toilet area

Love coming to thus site.. But came for 1 night 26/06/21 on the off chance.. Well my husband never complains yo me but was saying the 3 band rule didn't apply to certain men.. They wodnt take a band and were just going in.. At 1 point there were 5 men in the block... This happened a few times on our stay,, also it the wash area there was a pair of boxer shorts left on the floor.. He said the men didn't care... But on our arrival we parked up and had the little visit from the squirrel which I love seeing... We sat out till at least 11pm as we like to see the bat's flying above.. Also a negative this is the only site they have taken away the recycling areas,, why I just dont get it.. There were just big bins as you come into the site by the reception.. To which I found quite far for some people to walk to... I just didn't get why this was changed here... We will be back but hopefully things will run a bit smoother.. Our next trip is malvern.. In 2 weeks which will be our 3rd time going...
