A very disappointing end to 3 weeks in Galloway in our van. We were pitched in the walled garden. (Vacant pitches on the main site were being reserved for large vans) One end of the van was a few feet away from a 10 ft wall. The other end 6 yards from 20ft high vegetation with the roadway in between. The site information mentions quiet and seclusion. This was not the case! Dog walkers from the main site used it as an area to walk their dogs, passing within a few feet of our van. When we tried to sit out by the van we were subjected to loud music and non stop dog barking from the houses over the wall.
On the positive side we did enjoy coastal walks and a very pleasant meal in the Harbour Inn.
We used our own facilities and cannot comment on those on the site
This was our first time at this site and it did not disappoint. The wardens (Ann and Martin( were helpful and friendly, the facilities were always clean and tidy....and it was reassuring to see the measures put in place to allow us to use them during the coronavirus pandemic...we stayed on other non-CAMC sites on our trip and there are others that don't seem to care too much.....so well done.
This is a great spot....it is quiet and relaxing and has easy access to some lovely walks and bike rides....so if that is what you want this is perfect....we do so we will be back.
We have returned to Garlieston several times a year for three years and we are never disappointed. The site is kept to a very high standard and Ann and Martin are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of nice walks and places to visit in the area with some beautiful scenery. The Harbour Inn in the village is a great pub where the staff are friendly and the food is excellent. The site has all measures in place to ensure it is COVID safe which is reassuring at this time. We will be visiting again soon and can highly recommend a visit to this site.
Loved this relaxing site. Lucky to get a seafront pitch. So relaxing watching the tide roll in and out entertained by the gulls and oyster catchers. The facilities were spotless if a little dated. Fabulous circular bike ride to Isle of Whithorn. After reading about the spooky cruggleton old church, was delighted to ride past it and take a photo, not brave enough to venture into the walled churchyard. Despite a rainy day we walked from site into Galloway House Garden and emerged into Rigg Bay and walked back along the stunning coastal path to site. Fabulous sunrise across the bay just the other side of the harbour. Loved strolling around the fascinating village. Can recommend the Harbour Inn if you want to eat out. Sorry to leave the area.
We completed a 5 night stay at this site on 2nd September and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Both Ann and Martin were very kind and helpful and the site is really well kept and peaceful. It was a great base for us to visit a lot of local locations and we saw some wonderful sunsets from the harbour and the kids loved the crabbing. We will definitely be returning.
We booked for three nights but stayed for 5,thanks to Ann and Martin for making this an enjoyable stay at the end of a short touring holiday.
Plenty to do,long walks along the coast, swim in the sea, great local in the Harbour Inn where staff also couldn't do enough.
Lots to like.
We spent 4 nights at this wonderful site at the end of August. Our hosts Ann and Martin were so welcoming and full of information about local walks, petrol, local pubs, smokehouse on the way home. They went out of their way to ensure we did not have to move pitches despite being very busy and full. The site is spotless and the COVID 19 arrangements excellent. The area is lovely for coastal walks and nature watching. There are lovely villages to visit nearby and querky shops and bookshops in Wigtown. Overall we were sad to leave the peace and quiet and lovely scenery.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Garlieston Club Site. We have been returning to this site for a good few years now and like to visit a couple of times a year. It is approx a 3 hour drive from our home.
The site is in the beautiful village of Garlieston in Galloway and the area is well worth visiting. The Harbour Inn, in the village does great food and there is a little garage which sells essentials.
The site is extremely well looked after and the facilities always spotless. Ann and Martin work extremely hard to keep everything perfect to allow a great stay. Even during these difficult times of covid 19 Ann and Martin continue to offer an excellent experience to everyone visiting this site.
What more could you ask for.
A lovely site in such a peaceful location. This site is helped by the wardens, Ann and Martin, who keep everything spotless and run the site so efficiently going out of their way to help if needed. In my opinion they run the site how sites should be run, they are friendly, professional and are there to help but aren't intrusive or overbearing as can be found on some sites.
Don't forget to visit The Harbour Inn where friendly owners and staff always make you welcome. They sell lovely food and sell the best pint of Guiness on the mainland.
The fish and chip van in the village on a Friday evening also sells lovely food.
Thank you once again and looking forward to our next visit.
