Outstanding natural beauty
I ditto previous reviews, yes the toilet block is old and not what we're used to in CAMC, but very clean and serviceable. Very friendly welcoming wardens. The views are beautiful, of hilly country side, this is the edge of the Snowdonia National park so not the dramatic views of mountains, and the best views are at the end of the site which is elevated, and during our stay was occupied by seasonals. Wardens are very particular about their grass, which is understandable, so only breathable ground sheets allowed. We had a 10 night stay and went out and about every day. We visited the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall (the highest in Wales), rode the train to the top of Snowdon, (book in advance, we got there at 12 and couldn't get on until 4, even though there are several trains running every half hour!). Went to the nearest two NT trust sites, Chirk castle.....well worth a visit, Erddig... a bit dark inside, but good walks in the grounds. Several castles, which have fascinating history. Lake Vynwy.....very dramatic reservoir. So lots to do in the area. A previous review was helpful telling us to look out for the Bison on stilts at the entrance, I thought it would be a cute little sign, but no, it is actually a full size Bison...on stilts.
