Very well kept site, location not great.
We have just stayed here for a week. The site is very well kept & the wardens work hard to maintain this. Toilets are very clean.
The site is enclosed with a security fence, with a gate & keypad through to the loch. There is a kids playpark through this gate which can be noisy. However it seemed to attract teenagers on an evening. One evening there was a police car with a search light. The site itself is surrounded by rugby & football pitches. We arrived on a Saturday & the shouting could be heard from a match, there was also loud music. There was also shouting from a match on two evenings. Just outside the main entrance to the site is a foodbank & other buildings with high fences.
Aldi, Lidl & Home Bargains are only a short walk from the site.
We didnt find much to do in Forfar itself. Arbroath, Montrose & St Andrews are not far to visit. We also visited Braemar & Balmoral which are a day trip. There is a gin distillery not far away.
The lochside walk was a little disappointing, the sides of the loch are covered in trees which makes the walk more like a woodland walk.
All in all we enjoyed our week but we have been to many other sites in much nicer settings.
