Peaceful site
Received one of the friendliest greetings ever from Warden Caroline. Site is down a narrow lane so care is needed arriving. Site is very enclosed with trees all round so if you like a wide open site with views then this isn’t for you. All pitches except 4 or 5 in the middle are under or near trees. Facilities kept very clean and are of good quality. Not on a bus route but apparently you can walk through to the village of Pett for a bus. The roads are narrow so not the safest for walking or cycling from the site.
Lots of places to see in the area, Old Hastings, Rye, Winchelsea are all very pretty places with medieval buildings. Rye Harbour, if you can park, gives access to a walk out to the nature reserve. Dungeness is a fascinating landscape and well worth a visit.
Parking for motor homes is tricky in the area - height barriers nearly everywhere. For Hastings, parking is possible on the sea front (4hour limit). We found a car park (free and no time limit) at the far end of St Leonard’s at Marina Fountain and took the bus (number 98 or 99) back into town. At Bexhill head for Galley Hill where there is on the road parking near the coastguard station.
Sea front walking is flat and also good for cycling.
Lots of places to visit from this peaceful site. Our visit ended with a really cheerful waving send-off from Caroline!
