Peace and quiet on a chilled out site

Lovely wardens, big pitches, tuck away in the woods. Facilities immaculate! We stayed an extra night. Handy for Rye and Dungeness. Quite tight access and google maps does its best to route you down narrow lanes!

Dog paradise

This was our first motorhome outing with 4 small dogs. Boy, did we hit the jackpot with this site. It’s small and very peaceful with excellent, clean and tidy facilities. It’s not great for families as there is not much to do if you have little ones. If, however, you have dogs, you couldn’t ask for more. The site is surrounded by woodland that is lovely for an early morning walk with the dogs. A short 5 minute walk through this wood you’ll find The Two Sawyers pub. A delightful dog friendly pub with a lovely garden. However, for us and our dogs, the piece de resistance was Guestling Wood. Just across the site entrance over a small lane is an entrance to 110 acres of doggy heaven! The site wardens were fantastic and when we asked if we could stay a further night, they made sure we stayed on the same pitch. It should also be noted that a lot of guests were trying to book extra nights. I think that says it all. Highly recommend!

A peace 😉 of perfection

This club site is an absolute gem which we have now been to several times and will certainly do so in the future. It is extremely peaceful, partly because with little for small people to do on site, it’s not the best site for families and partly because of its location down a small lane away from main roads. There is very little plane noise either. Our visit this time was due to an urgent need to de-stress and, being lucky with the weather, Fairlight exactly hit the spot. It’s small and perfectly formed with very nice wardens. The setting is lovely, surrounded by trees with grass between all pitches and the birdsong is beautiful. Come in bluebell time and you’ll be stunned! The walks are endless and very varied - woods, fields, seashore - with stupendous views from the tops of hills. Plus, with the help of an OS map, they are generally very well signed with stiles and gates in good condition. Be aware if you have a dog that many of the fields are full of sheep. As one reviewer also commented there are some fairly serious hills to climb/pedal up but it’s always worth the effort. We live only an hour away so don’t tend to go out and visit places we already know but Rye and Winchelsea are lovely and Hastings is good fun. We left after 4 nights refreshed and restored (although by the time our van had banged and crunched home over the appalling East Sussex potholes we were somewhat shaken rather than stirred!!)

Perfect Peace....

I honestly don't know why we had never thought to visit this site before. From arriving and throughout, the site managers (sorry, forgotten their names!) couldn't have been more helpful, with advice and guidance on places to go and best routes, and their recommendation for the local butcher saw us with half a freezer full of sausages! The site itself was immaculate but not too show homey, ie natural and relaxing. All pitches were a really good size and no matter where you were, your outlook was the woods. You can walk or ride through the woods direct from the site and we loved the 'Hansel & Gretel' idea of a touch of white paint on certain trees that leads to the local pub, the Two Sawyers, really good food and atmosphere there. I would say the only thing to be aware of, which is nothing to do with the site itself, is that there are some massive hills around if cycling, that Google state as 'moderate' but not too sure in whose language that is! Also, in future I would avoid arriving or leaving on a Sunday as the lane is quite narrow and the woodlands are very popular with people arriving in cars so was a bit hairy trying to make a dash for it when leaving! Would definitely visit here again.

Great Stay , Great Wardens .

We booked 5 night , 8th to 13th august and took the grandchildren with us for the first time for 2 nights not knowing if they would like staying in the caravan . Even though there is no play area there was lots to do in the woods , they loved it . Also crazy golf and the sea life centre in Hastings There is also at fairlight a great country park with a very nice café . The grandchildren loved it so much they asked to stay an extra night luckily I booked 3 nights just in case . I would like to give a big thank you to Cheryl and Dean for being a great help . We had a problem with the TV socket on the post and Dean came over straight away , also Many thanks to you Cheryl for sorting out an extra night stay even though it was after 5 pm . Once again Many Thanks to you both . David & Pauline

Lovely peaceful site

Having just returned from this site, after a 3 night stay we have to say we were impressed and have already booked for May 2024. The site is most suitable for adults having no children’s play area etc. The facilities were good - quite well aged but kept spotlessly clean. Bonus having a pub in walking distance, woods to explore and a bus stop for trips into Hastings. All in all a lovely site we would recommend.

Great site and food

Really warm welcome when booking in, good pitches and showers. Excellent dog walking opposite in the 120 acre woodland trust land. The Two Sawyers pub serves, in my opinion, some of the best pub grub in the area. It’s less than a five minute walk from the bottom of the site. A great place for a long weekend stay which we visit two or three times a year.

First time visit

A very warm welcome from the managers who were very knowledgeable about the area. Immaculate pitches.A110 acres of dog walk opposite the site and a less than 10min walk through the woods to the pub which is under new management and very nice food. Half way through the week the relief managers came in and we’re just as friendly Around the area there is nice places to visit although we thought Hastings looked a bit run down, the seafront was a nice walk and the old town fishing area was interesting. Rye was well worth the visit as was Battle Abbey All in all a very nice and immaculately well kept site. WELL DONE SITE MANAGERS

Lovely Site and great for walking the dogs

Our first time at a club site and this was perfect, not too big and the site wardens Dean and Cheryl were very helpful and the site is an absolute credit to them, they never seemed to sop working. Lovely woods right opposite the site entrance to walk the dogs which had luckily dried up for when we visited at the end of May. Cheryl also gave us a printed sheet detailing the walk to Pett level Beach, which has a nice cafe and church, there are a lot of stiles to negotiate on the walk and they don't have dogs gates in them so they need to jump or be lifted over. Easy walk through the woods to the Two Sawyers pub where we had two nice meals and some good local beer.

Very well kept site

Very warm welcome and a lovely pitch. The showers and toilets are the best I've seen on a site. They include several large cubicles, plentiful hot water with easy controls and spotlessly clean. Washing up room was also great and although I didn't check it out I did notice a laundry room. Short walk through woods to The Two Sawyers pub which is dog-friendly and lots of outdoor seating so we had a meal there the first night. Had a walk in Guestling Woods across the road and a trip down to Pett Level beach. The site doesn't have much for kids and that's fine for us as it was so peaceful even though it was the bank holiday weekend at the start of half term and fully booked. It is the most dog-friendly site I've ever been on and every pitch had at least one. Definitely take heed of the directions and don't come in via the north of Watermill Lane even if your satnav tells you to.
