Chestnuts, bows and arrows at Fairlight Wood

Great if you like woodland. The site itself is nestled in woods and there are ample trails to walk and they felt really safe. Super opportunities for foraging berries, mushrooms ect at this time of year (late October). My 10 yr old Nephew and I made a bow and arrow from hazel coppice so I'd recommend this site for adventurous children. I've never seen so many sweet chestnuts, literally falling all around and the BBQ came in handy for roasting them. Plenty of space between pitches and very peaceful at night except for the resident hooting owl and crashing chestnuts. Two cracking pubs nearby within walking distance The Royal oak the furthest but better of the two. Staff were really friendly, helpful, laid back and humorous. A bit tricky to find but then again, most good things usually are!
