Bluebell time
We couldn't have picked a better time to visit Fairlight Woods site as the bluebells in the adjacent woods were in full bloom.....this was mid May. The scent even at the service point closest to the woods was overpowering and the view superb. There are walks through the woods that are magical and even lead to the local pub where food can be bought at reasonable prices. The site was clean, well maintained and the wardens attentive, always smiling, helpful and willing to pass the time of day with us. If children need facilities then these were not evident but if interested in wildlife and plants, then heaven. Shingle beaches close by at Pett and shopping and fresh fish available in Hastings. Loads to do and see in the area for all tastes. The only downside to the site location are the narrow access roads once you leave Rye Road so take care and don't arrive or leave outside the advised times see you would only have yourself to blame if you had to do a degree of 'manoeuvring' to avoid a clash. Thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay and will come here again.....and again, hoping to see earlier spring flowers.
