Lovely Site

Just spent a (short) week here and found it to be an excellent site with great updated facilities. Wardens friendly and helpful. Will certainly return in the future.

A little gem on Exmoor

Lovely site next to the River Barle, well kept and maintained. Toilets/Showers were modern, spotless and warm. Really nice pitches next to the River Barle and excellent walks around the area including further afield onto Exmoor. Don't miss the opportunity to eat at Woods restaurant (advisable to book before leaving home) and the Tantivy cafe is a real delight. Overall Dulverton has to be one of the friendliest places we've stayed. Everyone spoke to us even the teenagers arriving at Church on Saturday afternoon. Exmoor House site is a real gem ...but don't tell too many....we wouldn't want it to get too busy!

How to spoil a good weekend!

Exmoor house is a jewel in the portfolio of sites. I have been using it for over 25 years and have been using club facilities since my first rally in 1953 !!! I have always found the club wardens to be friendly, welcoming and perform there duties efficiently to ensure that members experience the best possible stay. But never have I received a welcome like the one we received ... We arrived at 12.40. ( I know we are asked not to arrive before 1pm) on arrival the wardeness came rushing out of her caravan, I apologised for arriving before one and said that I would leave the camper whilst she finished her lunch and I would pop to the newsagent to buy a paper ( approx 400m) and return by 1pm.  I then experienced a tirade from the wardeness about the rules, the website and the booking form all stating that I cannot arrive before 1pm and I had to leave. I asked where she suggest I go ... She said she didn't care but I have to leave the site , when pressed she directed me to the car park outside the site ... This clearly states No Campers and No vehicle over 1525kg.  I did not join the Club to be 'controlled' and spoken to in this manner ... Thankfully all the other wardens I have met have interpreted their role of serving the members in a much more positive manner. But Dulverton and the site are 'magical' and a secret we have held dear.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are pleased to hear that Exmoor House Caravan Club Site is a site that you hold dear. The warden has been in touch to clear up any misunderstanding. As you arrived 20 minutes early she asked that you stay with your vehicle and check in at 1pm. As the site has a very short arrival lane for 3 vehicles, the gates then become blocked and no one can enter or leave the site. As such they cannot have parked outfits without the driver in case they have to clear the entrance. I hope this clears up any confusion and addresses your concern. The wardens look forward to welcoming you again soon.

A peaceful, relaxing, friendly site

The staff gave us a warm friendly greeting, gave us a map of the site and made us aware of the difference between 'with awning' and 'without awning' pitches. The site map given to us was for the pre-altered site and the 'without awning' pitches had been highlighted in blue to make it easy. Unfortunately it didn't, we found the map confusing, possible because the day we arrived was the first day open after alterations. The site and facilities were spotless, lovely warm shower block with lots of very hot water. A short walk along the river leads to the The Bridge Inn, good service, good food and fairly reasonable prices, but book ahead or risk disappointment. From here the village of Dulverton is extremely close, it's also the most dog friendly place we've ever visited. Café, bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, dogs welcome in them all. A lovely long weekend enlivened by the loudest dawn chorus - beautiful! The only downside, the warden was very diplomatic but warned we may need to move because of the 6m rule, although the new pitch layout added to the problem. Also an early arriver was turned away because he was 10 minutes before the 1pm arrival time, this seemed unnecessary. Nonetheless, great site, we'll be back.

Good Vibrations

Had fantastic weekend. - site facilities excellent, warm and spotless as ever. However do not believe the comments that you can leave later than noon. It is not permitted! This did not detract from our stay though.

Happy new year

We have just spent two nights at Exmoor house to see in the new year. This was our second visit this year and once again it was top notch. The Wardens are doing a superb job, the site is immaculate and the position would be hard to beat. A lovely place to be any time of the year.

Wonderful site in a wonderful area

This was our second Christmas at Exmoor house it again was a wonderful experience. The site is lovely both in its position and the way it is maintained by the lovely wardens Trevor and Sally. Dulverton is lovely base to explore the surrounding area with lovely little shops to browse or places to eat. Looking forward to returning next Christmas and may even try to go earlier in the year as well. Well done caravan club you have many jewels that make caravaning a joyful experience .
