What a lovely site - pity about the barking dogs!

We have been coming to this site for many years now, the facilities (recently updated) are really excellent. We usually love its peace and tranquility but this year this was somewhat spoilt by inconsiderate dog owners who let their animals bark at every passing dog before telling them off only for it to happen repeatedly. Dog owners, if you dog barks keep them out of site of other passing dogs pehaps behind a screen or behind your van to stop them being a nuisance to the rest of us who are on holiday as well as you and your barking dogs.

A great site

An excellent site in an excellent location, with helpful/knowledgeable wardens. The site has a good layout and the toilet blocks are clean if not spacious in the gents. No dogs problems and we have two of our own. The small town is good for both shopping and a few beers or food (Woods was the best). Good location for touring or just walking off the site. Will come again.

Shame about the dog owners!!

Stayed here several times now and absolutely love it and Dulverton. We were here on the 29/30 June and took my brother along with his wife as they have recently joined the club. It was very busy, but full of barking dogs and owners allowing them to mess in the road and on the grass between pitches!!! Absolutely awful, and not the kind of thing my brother wanted to witness as a new member. A few dogs were off their leads also, roaming between vans. The wardens were great, but they need to stop this kind of behavior as is spoils the experience of other members! Dog owners take note and obey the site rules!!!

Best so far

What a great little site the wardens were very helpful and knowledgable. The pitches were of hard standing and some also have full service with water and electric. The facilities were always spotless clean and tidy. And with the village of Dulverton with in walking distance you could not ask for much more from this quiet and wonderful site.

What more could you wish for?

What a wonderful site and we are sure to return. The site is alongside a river and the town is only a few moments away. Wardens are friendly and the site is immaculately clean. Good size pitches on hard standing are available, but many are quite limited if you have a large twin axle. So much to see and do in the local area and Exmoor is just wonderful. Dulverton has everything you need just a few steps away. Baker, butcher, greengrocer and general stores along with pubs and restaurants. We were lucky enough to be able to join a local walk and guide through the town. Very informative and at only £2.50pp, very good value.

What a winding road!

What a winding road this was. I could see it would be from the very good map I had but it exceeded my expectations for an A road. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but I had hurt my back a bit and the nice lady said it was okay to stay just the 1 night. Didn't have chance to try out walks with dogs but they had already done a super walk that day in Perranporth but the one I did try was tricky as I had to cross the narrow bridge which was wide enough for 1 vehicle only and 2 from opposite sides of the bridge wanted to go over - so dangerous on foot. It also seemed quite a long way to the footpath so I gave up. It was nice to have the little dog exercise area and although there were lots of dogs on the site (which I wouldn't have thought was in the best of locations for dogs to enjoy) there weren't any problems or noise as a previous person stated. Dulverston is a lovely village with more shops than we expected. Sadly that winding road in a motorhome will stop us from trying it again (and we live in Shropshire which has a good many narrow and winding roads)

Wonderful site

When ever we are in the southwest we always return to Dulverton. It is a busy site but usually very relaxing and with Dulverton on the door step ideally placed for doing very little or being very adventurous. Cannot recommend this site more highly it is excellent. This visit had a little of the shine taken off as it felt as if there were more dogs than people on site when we arrived. Don't shout at me as we have had dogs all our lives. Shown them, bred them and loved them but sometimes you have to wonder! My wife went to the dog walk mid afternoon with our mini schnauzer and on the way out bumped into a gentleman on a zimmer frame with 4 dogs of differing breads. They decided to have a go at our dog and the chap had great difficulty stopping them so my wife retreated into the dog walk while he got them under some sort of control. There were also several other campers with 3 or 4 dogs and I consider we have to start thinking if there should be a cap on the number of dogs per unit. Never thought I would say that but there was almost a dawn chorus of barking first thing!! Still overall a great site with great off site dog walks and we still love it and will be back.

We'll be back

Lovely site in a perfect location for walks but slightly cut off if you're in a motorhome that you don't want to move. Dulverton is a lovely little village less than 10 minutes walk away with a few pubs, bakeries, cafes, and a Coop. Facilities kept spotless by very friendly wardens. We will add this to our growing list of sites that we will return to.
