Worth visiting for more than one night

Recently spent 6 nights here. I’m surprised at the negative reviews this site has on the CAMC website. We enjoy staying here. The facilities are not up to the usual CAMC standard but we feel the price reflects this. Shower block is very old but kept spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water for a hot powerful shower. The site is spacious with an open area with a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches, and a more secluded grassy area amongst trees. We prefer this area which feels more like a CL. Currently there is only one chemical disposal point for the entire site, but didn’t seem to be causing a problem. It is possible to walk around the racecourse on a smooth concrete path - an enjoyable walk of about 2 miles. On Sundays there is a huge car boot sale which is well worth a look. Cars queue up to access it. Worth remembering if you plan on arriving on a Sunday. On the other side of the A38 there is a garage/shop and fast food outlets. These can be accessed by walking under a bridge so not a problem getting there. The site is great for walking and cycling in the Haldon Forest a mile from the site. Nearby there is excellent cycling on the Exe Estuary Trail. Exeter can be accessed via a bus trip or driving into the city or Park and Ride. Good for a stopover on route further down south but plenty of attractions in the area - National Trust properties and seaside resorts such as Dawlish. I really hope CAMC don’t close this one. Maybe it could do with some investment but as the Club don’t own the site I suspect there is a reluctantance to invest in it. We will no doubt enjoy further stays there in the future.
