What a find
We booked two nights here on our way home from Cornwall. You have to be a bit on the ball as the turning is, as the book says, a very sharp turn near the top of a long hill. Then the site is close to the road and very accessible. The very helpful and pleasant wardens pointed us towards the 'Paddock' part of the site. What a little gem. Largely flat, quiet and very well maintained lawned pitches. The outlook is part of the racecourse with a forest beyond and we thought it was really attractive. You can walk the dogs around the race track and they can run off lead (providing they are well behaved and have a decent recall) as there is plenty of grass and trees. There is, of course, some road noise, but we didn't think it too obtrusive and we live in a very quiet rural area at home. The Paddock has two service points - a little rough round the edges but perfectly fine. So no long walks for water. There is a very long walk if you want to use the facilities - which we didn't, as they are at the far end of the main site. After the wet, muddy rigours of Cornwall, we had two hot days to rest and dry out. And thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Petrol expensive nearby - so we travelled a few miles to Tesco. Oh and the wardens sell very nice ice cream too!
