Thumbs up from us and paws up from the dog!

We are relatively new to caravanning; having only stayed at a few local CL sites.  Englethwaite Hall was the first club site we stayed at and it did not disappoint!

The site is straight forward enough to get to as long as you follow the directions provided on the Caravan Club website/handbook.  Once we arrived on site we checked in and were pleased to see that the wardens were very friendly and welcoming.  We were given the option to choose from a selection of pitches – this gave us the opportunity to go for a quick wander around the site and choose the pitch that suited us best.

Englethwaite Hall is a very pretty site and has trees and plants dotted about.  The pitches are generous allowing plenty of room for a car, caravan and an awning.  We booked a serviced pitch which meant we didn’t have to refill our water container or use our waste water container.  There are only a handful of serviced pitches but as the site is a nice size you’re never too far from a service point.  The site is well maintained and the grass was cut while we were there.

There is a designated dog walk which is accessible from a few places on site.  The walk takes you through a wooded path and ends in a large grassy area which our dog loved running about in.  There is also a walk accessible from the site which takes you through woodland and round a large pond.

During our stay we had beautiful weather and took advantage of the small selection of ice creams and cold drinks sold at reception.  There are also a number of essential items sold at reception and you can order fish and chips there on a Friday – something which rounded our week off nicely!

There is no Wi-Fi on site but there is an information hut which is well stocked with leaflets, brochures, menus for local pubs, bus timetables, etc.  A few miles from the site is a village called Armathwaite where you will find a couple of pubs.  We ate at the Fox and Pheasant Inn and enjoyed a delicious meal in relaxed, cosy surroundings – the pub is also dog friendly.  During our stay we explored the local area and visited many towns/villages such as Keswick, Grasmere, Penrith and Hawkshead – all these places have so much to see and do and many shops are dog friendly.

Overall,we would recommend Englethwaite Hall as a relaxed, peaceful site to stay on and is a great base for visiting the towns and villages in the Lake District.  We will definitely be going back! HappyCoolTongue Out
