5 nights and well located for North Lakes, Hadrian's Wall, Solway, Carlisle. Solway Air Museum well worth a visit, not expensive and allow a good couple of hours.
Very well kept site, quiet, quite a few tall trees around but that was good as it was very windy the time we stayed.
Site managers, Carol and Mick very pleasant and helpful. They keep a very well cared for mini log cabin with lots of local infrmation so look it out.
Do follow arrival directions on which road to come in on.
Perfect getaway
Stayed at Engletgwaite for 3 nights and will 100% return. I stayed on pitch 6. Upon arrival the wardens where very welcoming and friendly. I didn't need to see them again which in my view means it was pretty much perfect. A lovely well kept site with lots of little cul de sacs. The onside dog walk was brilliant and the added benefit of the adjoining woodlands and lakes was just the ticket. Only a few miles from the m6 but felt a world away. Cant wait to visit again soon.
Beautiful site
We only stayed for 2 nights, but we found the site really beautiful and clean. The wardens were really nice and helpful. Shame it hasn't got toilets and showers, therefore making it a bit difficult for longer stays and families and caravans/motorhomes and campers without shower facilities. However, the site layout was brilliant, good distance between caravans. Fresh water, waste disposal very well laid out. The little forest behind with red squirrels was beautiful. Although I am an adult, I found the little fairy land really nice and a brilliant addition. We would definitely recommend staying here. Not far to Carlisle and Hadrian's wall. Superbly located.
A great place to relax
This was our third stay here and we absolutely love it. The site is a perfect location to relax amongst peaceful surroundings. The grounds are well maintained by the very helpful, friendly wardens Mick and Carol.
There are plenty of walks surrounding the site where you can enjoy the bird life and Red squirrels.
There is also plenty to see not too far away including Hadrian's Wall and the Solway Aviation Museum at Carlisle airport. Looking forward to returning soon.
Wet, wet, wet!!
Our 7th visit to this site and whilst the weather was disappointing, relentless heavy rain at times, the wardens were welcoming and apart from the flooded pitches, the site was colourful and well maintained. Since our last visit, the service points have been covered with gazebo type structures and were very much appreciated to shelter under whilst doing the water / waste etc. in the inclement weather. The MH service point has also moved and is far more user friendly. We walked to the nearest village of Cotehill as we had booked a table for tea at The Greyhound but alas it was closed which surprised us for a mid Saturday afternoon and with nothing else to do, we cancelled our table and went back to the site. I believe the pub does great food and is dog friendly but for future reference, it obviously has limited opening hours. Re other reviews stating no facilities block, the webpage does mention this and therefore shouldn't surprise anyone. I never use facilities blocks anyway but if one was to be built at Englethwaite, the prices would go up. I value these sites as I am not paying for something I don't use, keeps the cost down and means I can have a few extra nights away. Washrooms in vans shouldn't be ornaments and at least I know mine has been looked after and cleaned thoroughly and I don't have to share it!
Thank you kindly wardens for a lovely weekend despite the weather, we will be back.

Glad to be back.
Stayed here again for a couple of nights to break the journey to Scotland but it always feels so homely. plenty of walks for the dogs and views across the hills. The site is always immaculate and a credit to the wardens. One of my "go to " sites.
Charming
Second visit to this tranquil site, no facilities but we were on a service pitch so no big deal.
Beautiful setting amongst trees in glorious countryside. They have a red squirrel hide but we found we could watch them on the ground and in the trees from our caravan. Lovely friendly wardens who do a good job of keeping the place spotless.
Perfect
Another perfect stay, five days of relaxation, one of my favourite sites to visit, Mick & Carol keeping the site immaculate and helping all guests, whether it be trouble with their electrics or opening stubborn jar lids and most importantly a friendly word at every opportunity. the spring weather did not mar the walks into the woods or from seeing the abundant wildlife, Thank you again for a perfect break

Another relaxing break
Another five days of total relaxation, what a fabulous site, one day of sporadic rain, four days of dry November weather, clean and dry enough to walk round the lakes and forest twice a day and admire the lovely new bench that was made by Jason & Yvette (neighbours of the site) plenty of hard work for the excellent managers Mick & Carol who keep the site immaculate but no matter how busy always have time for a friendly chat. Thank you so much and roll on next March when the site re-opens.

Ideal for our short stay to show our puppy at The Border Terrier Clubs national open show
A beautiful tranquil site with excellent dog walking facilities. We will definitely be returning for any shows we are exhibiting in in future in the wider Cumbria area.
We will recommend the site to other dog show enthusiasts who find travelling to shows in the area in just one day too stressful.
