Never got my bike out

1st visit, we wanted to see Durham and were not disappointed. The immediate area is limited to one muddy walk, and definitely too dangerous to cycle; not surprising since it is conveniently located at a motorway junction. You eventually get used to the motorway noise. The site layout encourages people to walk past caravans instead of obeying the guidelines to use the road for getting from A to B. Excellent park and ride into Durham within easy walking distance from the site, but do not walk; that roundabout is lethal to walkers and cyclists and acts as a barrier to the East. North and South is served by the motorway only, and to the East the dual carriageway to Durham is for vehicles only. All other ways are private or farmland or the aforementioned muddy walk. The site is OK though but a return visit for us is unlikely.
