I booked this site primarily because we were attending an event at the Elddis factory and it was ideally placed. Excellent for getting into Durham and all the surrounding area.  Yes. There is some noise from the A1 as it runs below the site but when the site map shows you were it is noise is to be expected. Didn't spoil our stay and you do tune it out.  The site has excellent toilet facilities which are spotless- when we stayed only one warden couple on site and they worked really hard to keep everything ship shape Pitches are very big and given a choice I would have had a full service one but the hardstanding was more than adequate.  There is a dog walk on site but don't expect to be walking miles on it as it's just to the edge of the site. You can go out the main gate (barrier controlled) and take the footpath to the right which runs alongside the main road for a longer walk.  All in all a very good stay with excellent wardens and I will be using this site again as it's ideal if you're travelling further north or indeed south!
