We used Durham Grange to visit family in the North East and enjoy a return visit to Beamish museum. The site location is convenient for access, but loses out due to the ever present drone of traffic from the adjacent A1. The site is immaculate, the wardens helpful and friendly and as a touring base it is well situated (5 -10 mins drive into Durham, 20 mins or so to Beamish). As previously stated the only downside is the background traffic noise, a price you have to pay for the convenience of being within 1/4mile of the motorway.
