A dissapointing family visit

We recently visited this site for 3 nights over a weekend. Location was excellent for Durham, lovely walk along the river into town. Lots of road noise but we were expecting this based on previous reviews. Toilet/shower facilities lovely and clean. Site neat and tidy. Reception had strange opening times, i saw lots of people try to gain access, seemed closed a lot. Our complaint was the attitude of the warden on duty during our visit, our son was doing kick-ups on an open patch of grass behind our van, nowhere near anyone else as we had no neighbours, nothing detrimental to any other visitor, and i was told he couldn't play with his ball at all. I understand the rules re ball games but he wasn't harming anyone! However on the Sunday evening a large family pitched up next to us and were having a full on game of football behind our pitch and nothing was said, their ball even hit our van at one point! Seems there's one rule for one and another for the rest of us! Very disappointing Caravan Club. Other than a small playground more suited to younger children there really wasn't anything to do here for older kids, and thus sadly, based on our overall experience we won't be returning here. I think this site is suited to more mature couples only.
