We have just spent a week at this lovely peaceful site. Never having visited this part of the lakes we saw some lovely places. Whitehaven with its lovely marina, Ennerdale water with fantastic views of the hills surrounding the lake, Cockermouth with its riverside walk under the castle, St Bees to name a few. Just something to be aware of if using car parks in the towns is that the car parks are now giving you only 10 minutes to buy your parking ticket before getting fined, and Keswick only allows you 5 minutes to get your parking ticket before being fined. As a final point the only downside to the site was the speeding of a couple of vehicles which though it was a speed tract. In fact one night I was nearly run down whilst walking from our caravan to our friends caravan, The person which was driving this vehicle was doing in excess of the 5 mph stated on signs and the road and nearly hit me, he did not slow down but kept going till he got to his van. This was witnessed by our friends who could not believe what they were seeing. It was disgraceful and because of this I spoke to the warden and advised them what had happened. I do not know if he was spoken to but I hope he was.
