As Motorhome owners and after a long journey we were keen to explore the locality on foot as much as possible. Having studied the site particulars we made sure we had a well stocked larder, fridge & bar! This is a perfect site to explore the quieter side of the Lake District. We hardly met a soul on our walks even in August. Cockermouth is well worth a visit with several independent shops and Riverside parks to picnic in. The Gather cafe at Ennerdale Bridge is exceptional and worth the windy roads. Didn't try the 2 adjacent pubs they looked lovely.
