How long does it take to fix WiFi?

Clumber Park is our local site, we live only 30 minutes away so visit regularly. And we do love the site. But why is it that WiFi still cannot be fixed here? For years WiFi reception has been intermittent, but with appointment of the new contractor last year I hoped for a final resolution. Well nope, it is still as bad as ever. Last weekend it didn't even work if I stood under a transmission pole! Please can the Club note that for many members WiFi is now an essential utility - something the Government also now agrees with. How much longer do we have to wait for a fix here?????

First outing of the year

Just had our first outing of 2015, wanted somewhere close to home to sort out the motorhome & have a chill out couple of days. Site is lovely & quiet, facilities are lovely & clean, wardens really friendly. Phone signal was a bit iffy, the really annoying thing was the WIFI as per other comments this was not reliable & kept dropping you out every few minutes or you could not connect & when connected it was painfully slow - This is very annoying because I have paid for 12 months WIFI access while on Caravan Club sites, I must say this is the first site I have been to that have WIFI and had issues - This is the only reason I have marked it down on facilities & cleanliness - Come on Caravan Club sort out the issues with the WIFI especially as we have to pay extra to use it.

Winter

Clean and relaxing site. This is only our second visit but will definately go back again. The wardens are very helpfull and pleasant. Only downside is the Wifi which appears not to have been working properly on both visits and with younger children it would be a massive boon in the winter evenings. Recommended for a relaxing break.

LIKE COMING HOME

This site is like coming home. We booked for 2 weeks but stayed 3. It was nice and peaceful so you could relax and enjoy the site. The wardens were up to their usual perfection- well done and thank you. The WI-FI is a bit of pain as it was not working most of the time. As there is no phone signal the laptop is quite useful. Annoying as you pay for 12 months then you cannot use it. Looking forward to when we return.

Pleasant weekend

Another excellent site. Very good location for walking or cycling in the park or travelling further afield into Derbyshire. Close to A1 access. Facilities up to usual high standards and wardens extremely friendly. One concern, why do some visitors leave showers/toilets in such a mess? They seem to forget that these are shared facilities and the CC even supply a 'squeegy' mop to clean up! Overall however a pleasant weekend.

Winter break

Having spent a lot of time here over the summer season we decided to try a short winter break what a great weekend we had,the wardens were great so friendly and really made us welcome, dog walking in the area is fantastic our dog and adopted dog loved it, one of the many highlights of the weekend Was the Burnsnight at the Clumber Park Social Club a very memorable evening, hope to repeat some day soon.

Cold, snowy January visit

We have stayed here before so knew what to expect for this site and we weren't disappointed. It's tranquil in the extreme. You can hear the owls at night, and the birds in the morning - and that's about all. The site warden on arrival was friendly, helpful and informative, check in was quick and efficient. We stayed for one night during which it snowed and temperatures dropped to -2. We therefore didn't venture to the shower blocks, preferring to stay in the warmth of our caravan and use our own facilities instead. We therefore can't comment on the cleanliness of the shower/toilet block but there's every reason to expect them to be impeccable as per our last visit. The wifi was on the blink and we were recommended not to bother paying for it because it's so flaky. Thank you for the warning warden! It's in the CC's gift to get this sorted - it can be done. There's absolutely NO mobile signal (this is not in the CC's gift!) While it's great to be out of reach it can be a bit challenging if you didn't expect to be totally 100% off line - so be warned. We asked if we could check out a couple of hours late to allow us to walk to the National Trust tea rooms and back, and with plenty of spare pitches available for newcomers, the warden was really flexible and allowed us to do this. Thank you again Warden! As an aside, the National Trust tea rooms in Clumber are in a fabulous location but should be avoided. The cappuccino might have been bean to cup but it was machine made and absolutely awful. Bacon and sausages were slapped into a bread bun and sold as sandwiches with not even a napkin on the plate. It was more lke eating in a transport café than a National Trust tearooms, except for the prices! You certainly won't be disappointed with the CC site - I wish I could say the same for the NT! We'll be visiting Clumber again soon, testimony to how lovely the site is in isolation of the National Trust park in which it's situated.

Wonderful Location for peace and tranquility

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this Caravan Park this year and we are still only in January. I indicated on my booking that we would be arriving between 6-7, and the extremely helpful and friendly staff were there ready and waiting. We were allowed to pick our own pitch and then let them know where we were in order to get the facilities keys. Once the car was parked up it stayed there. The location is picturesque, beautifully surrounded by trees. Theres a play area for the children. The walks around the park are beautiful. There is no tv reception so if your wanting to watch tv then make sure you have a very long cable to plug in to the aerial sockets. No phone reception or wifi, but with views and countryside like clumber park who needs those things. It was brilliant to get away from reality for a while, which is why I think we have been twice this month and will continue to go back. The shower blocks and the rest of the facilities are spot on for the job, the water is hot and the place is kept clean...really what more can you ask for? We asked the wardens if we would be allowed to depart later than 12 on our departure day and was advised to ask again on the actual day as they know the if they will need the pitch of not. I love clumber park and I love the walks, my 3 year old even walked all the way up to clumber park and around the venue without complaining, and he cried when it was time to come home! Definate recommendation from me!

A Great Escape

This is a really nice spot in rural Nottinghamshire. Set in acres of parkland with great walks and places to explore. Didn't need to use the car at all during the weekend. Good facilities on site. But it does seem odd that the official closing time of reception is at 4.00pm making arrival for anyone leaving work a bit of a challenge. Luckily the wardens are pretty flexible with regard to arrival times. Check out the National trust tea shop, nice cups of tea great burgers. It would have nice to have been able to extend the weekend until 4.00pm but we're told that we a had to be away at 12.00, which again seems a bit odd when the site was pretty empty when we left and a sunday night in January is not really caravaning peak season!

1st Trip of the Year

Had a very enjoyable couple of nights here 2nd & 3rd January. A sign indicated that there was no WiFi....well, there was but extremely slow. This is not the first CC site I've been to where the WiFi was pathetically slow. I know that some sites are a bit "out in the sticks" but don't advertise WiFi availability unless it's useable. Site staff were very friendly. Unfortunately I had to give this site 5 stars for "good for families" as I'm sure it is. Thankfully though during our stay the children's play area was all but deserted. Don't get me wrong, I love children, I just couldn't eat a whole one. Facilities up to the usual CC standard, good standard, clean, heated toilet/shower block etc. An excellent site in a lovely setting with loads of opportunity for walking/cycling in the Park. We will be back......just not in school holidays!
