this is a lovely site so peaceful with good walks the village is really nice with all the facilities you would need with plenty of places to eat. a must see is the Falls of Dockart especially if the piper is playing.
Hidden Gem
We were looking for a quiet getaway in the school holidays... didn't think we would manage it... but then we discovered Clachan! What an absolute gem of a site, lovely woodland pitches, the warden was really helpful and friendly, site kept clean and tidy. The local town Killin has a few good shops, the co-op opens until late for all your groceries, there is a post office, some nice restaurants, although advisable to book in advance as they seem to fill up quite quickly.
Would love to come back again to Clachan, one of the best Caravan sites we have stopped on. If you can do without the toilet and shower blocks and want to escape from it all look no further!
Thank you to the lovely warden who made us feel really welcome and to the staff at Maragowen site who were just as lovely and helpful. (You book in at Maragowen site just down the road from Clachan and they give you the barrier code. Maragowen site is more open and has facilities so may be better suited for families.) We were also told that fishing is available from the Maragowen site if you are booked at either there or Clachan as they have a permit :)
A wonderful site with the best volunteer wardens ever
This is a wonderful peaceful site and a paradise for bird watchers. Where else can you sit in your caravan and watch a Willow Warbler, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Red Start for example. Dave and Lucille the volunteer wardens have made a tremendous difference and improved the site no end. They have kept the amazing biodiversity of the site by trimming back some of the bracken to allow wonderful wild flowers to flourish. Such as Violets, Anemone, Campion, Celandine and others. There is even Bog Bean growing in the marshy area. They have put in lovely little touches like flower tubs, hanging baskets and a bench seat by the burn (stream) where you can sit in peace and watch birds. It is still a very natural site but just lovingly tended by these two very helpful and amazing wardens. Nothing is too much trouble for Dave - he helps out everyone. This is a gem of a site, particularly for those who don't need or want a toilet block, but just want peace and quiet in the woods. Well done the Caravan Club for this beautiful site. Highly recommended.

A well-kept site
This is a lovely little woodland site which is very well looked after by the volunteer wardens. It has no toilet block but is ideal for those who don't mind a more basic site. Great for bird-watchers - you don't even have to leave your caravan to see woodpeckers and lots of other birds. There are no facilities for kids but it's ideal for adults looking for a quiet break.
Lovely break
Always used CL as prefer quiet sites but love this serene excellently located club site. Pitches well spaced amongst the trees with mountain views.
