This was our very first night in our caravan - and old boy - 1995 Elddis XLi Cyclone. When we checked in to Maragowan and we were advised that there was no 'toilet/shower' block, we were immediately concerned but because Maragowan seemed quite busy we thought we would brave going back to nature and rough it using our own caravan toilet and shower. We needn't have worried - Clachan is a quiet and beautiful natural site and we managed fine with our own facilities. We appreciated the peace and quiet of Clachan when we passed Maragowan in the village later - it was busy and crowded.
Woodland Wildlife Oasis
What a wonderful and idyllic site. The wildlife was phenomenal even for early October. Although quite near the road there was little or no road noise. In fact the most noise came from the coal tits and chaffinch on our bird feeder (there were dozens of them). We had a good pitch with views down the glen to Killin and up towards the lower reaches of Ben Lawers. I would agree with anniepannieh that it's not a particularly good site for children and it is a reasonable walk on a narrow and sometimes steep road into Killin. There are loads of places to eat though and 3 or 4 give a 10% discount on food for Club members. We had quite heavy rain for our first couple of days and the falls in Killin were the most spectacular I have ever seen them. Love this site for its wooded tranquillity and harmony with nature.

Another lovely stay
Lovely welcome at Maragowan for check in. Then the Volunteer wardens at the Clachan were pleasant and welcoming. Site was quiet and restful. Excellent price.
Everything thing you need within a no toilet block site.
Walk into Killin would be difficult for children as there are no footpaths for the first part of the narrow road. Caravanners would use cars to get down to village, I think. Loved our stay.
First Club site stay
We are new to caravaning and new members to the Caravan Club. This is the first Club site we have stayed at.
The wardens at the site were very friendly and attentive. Even providing an ariel since ours didn't receive strong signal along with helpful advice.
The site was great meeting our expectations. Will be going back.
Tranquility
This site is a jewel, although no toilet block the site layout and peace and quiet on the are its redeeming features with easy access to Killin there is plenty to do. If travelling a must visit is to the Crannog centre just outside Kenmore at the other end of Loch Tay. Site staff very friendly and full of knowledge of the area. Sat TVs a problem but the site has an aerial booster. But if possible just get out and about indulge in what the area has to offer.
A true hidden gem
We spent 3 days here in July and would have stayed longer if we could have. Very pleasant staff keep the site immaculate. Very quiet and beautiful surroundings with loads of wildlife. Ideal base to explore the Trosachs.
first stay but not last
We have stayed in Killin before but this was first time at Clachan. Despite the mixed weather the site was lovely, the wardens helpful and the birdwatching good. We'll be back.

peace and quiet
Just returned from a 3 day stay. Great dog walk from site up onto hills above with great views. Site exceptionally clean and well maintained. Warden very informative about wildlife in area and walks. If you like to get way from it all this is the place to stay. A couple of minutes drive into Killin and lots of places to eat etc. Will definitely return.

Little gem
Very enjoyable stay on this site. Good walking from adjacent lodge cabin site. Volunteer wardens very friends and helpful, site clean and well kept. Road to village difficult to walk along, warden suggested path through field and across golf course, did not try it as there were lambs in the field. Will certainly try it on next visit.
