Shame about the Staff

We had a most upsetting experience when we visited this campsite back in March last year. Within 30 minutes of our arrival one of our little dogs hurt his foot whilst in the dog paddock. It looked serious requiring veterinarian attention. I used my mobile phone to find a vet’s practice in the area and managed to obtain an emergency appointment. We had never been to Cirencester so had no idea where the surgery was and with having a large Motorhome and other dogs we decided that the easiest course of action was to get a taxi. My husband went back and forth to the office at least 4 or 5 times obtaining taxi numbers but was told it was unlikely that we would get one as there was a horse racing meeting and they would all be at that. We phoned 9 taxi services to no avail. We then asked if someone from the office could just drop my husband and the dog off, we even offered payment - no-one would! We were well and truly stuck with a dog needing urgent veterinarian treatment! As a last resort we asked a gentleman parked opposite who also had a car as well as his Motorhome. He very kindly dropped my husband and dog off at the vet’s and even refused to take any money for his trouble. Our dog had in fact broken his foot, he had an x-Ray, injection and was prescribed pain relief tablets. The surgery was literally 3 to 4 minutes drive from the site and my husband walked back carrying the dog in his arms having received a detailed return route from the vet himself. It was my 70th Birthday weekend and one I will vividly remember for reasons that could have been avoided due to the lack of empathy and help from the park staff.

I hope your dog was okay. I expect the site wardens can't help with lifts as they haven't got a PSV , all H&S these days. However why didn't you use your motorhome as you deemed it an emergency. I have seen this on site before where motorhome owners go around asking caravan owners for lifts to various places and seeing your post made me ask why?

Well what a ray of sunshine you are!  You may be correct about H&S as staff may be advised that they are not allowed to give lifts, however, I have a motorhome and would definitely not want to be driving around Cirencester, looking for a vet's practice which may not have a suitable parking space for a motorhome when I got there, or indeed a suitable parking space anywhere near the vet's practice!.  Perhaps they had an awning up and it would have taken them some time to take it down!
