You’re rather late to the party. There has been much discussion on the subject but the club's hands are tied as the access road is not part of the site. Despite the situation being beyond the club's control, they achieved by consultation the improvements and widening you see now.
I'm sure the wardens would have explained in more detail if asked.

Another ‘latecomer’ to this particular party Tinwheeler. Arrived at the CP site today about two years since our last visit. Then, with the old access arrangement, it was awkward and bumpy to get to the site. However, congestion was commonplace, manoeuvring difficult and accidents sadly not rare. There was one involving significant damage to a motorhome leaving and a caravan arriving on our last visit.
The revised access is not as bumpy, at least as narrow (and this time with big boulders lining the track) and certainly no easier to negotiate IMO. This is not a new problem and with a large, popular and potentially lucrative site like this it seems to me that the Club must negotiate harder for proper access. I arrived mid afternoon and met only one car coming out. That was awkward enough. I really wouldn’t want to have to pass another outfit.
