Autumn break

A fourth return visit to this very accessible site and didn't disappoint as usual. Wardens very friendly and welcoming, toilets and amenities spotless, site tidy as well as can be expected during leaf fall and the Fish and Chips, available Tuesdays and Fridays are delicious and good value for money. Access on foot to the town is via the footpath adjacent to the ring road (very noisy) or through the park.....can be muddy in sections, especially the shortcut to avoid the Tennis Club. Nevertheless, Cirencester is well worth a visit whatever route you choose with a variety of shops and cafés. We would recommend Keith's for good service and shopping for coffee, jams and pickles....oh forgot, also chocolate! Half the site that uses only grass pitches was closed for the winter but there are still loads of hardstanding pitches to choose from, some in the open and a few close to trees. The access road is still with potholes but hopefully once the 6th Form College adjacent to the site is fully up and running, the access road will be improved. This is one of the problems associated with a road of shared ownership but I was assured that the CC has made every effort to improve it. Fingers crossed for 2016! One minor gripe and that is the size of a lot of the hardstanding pitches.....these could be widened to accommodate both caravan, car and awning and thus negate cars having to park across the end of the 'van when an awning is used. There is plenty of space to achieve this. Lets wait and see what the CC propose by way of improvements on this site for the immediate future.
