Peaceful break!

After some 8yrs we revisited and found everything to be as welcoming as before. High praise for the wardens who as so very often are helpful, pleasant and clearly hardworking. Unfortunately our last two days saw us (along with half the site) having no electric hookup due an issue we believe, on one particular pitch. However, that does help you get familiar with operating on gas etc! Cirencester itself seems to have even more coffee shops to choose from and we can highly recommend calling at the corinium museum, lots to see and learn for both adults and children.

A Race Track

This was our third time here but this time it didn't live up to the previous two visits. The speed of the majority of vehicles entering/leaving was the worst I have encountered on any club site. This really needs addressing across the network but what we saw during our stay this time was unbelievable. I will so no more than that because we really do like this site. The location is spot on; the college next door was closed for half term which made the approach safer. The site was quiet with excellent facilities which given how busy the site was were kept in spotless condition. On the Friday night before we left the pitches in our area suffered a power cut. The wardens came out late at night to try and rectify the fault. They did the same the next morning well before their start time. Unfortunately it proved to be a more serious problem than they could handle but well done them for trying. The Pizza van on Thursday night was very popular as the queues showed. I went to the local fish shop (The Seafarer on Chesterton Rd) instead. I had used it before but now under new management I found it disappointing. For a regular sized fish then think small, it was not good value. Apart from what I said at the beginning I would return to this site. which is in a prime location for the southern end of the Cotswolds.

An excellent family site

Having previously visited the site on a number of occasions, my wife and I were looking for inspiration for a half term week away with my daughter and grandchilden. This site proved to be an inspired choice, from the warm welcome, spotless facilities through to its convenient location. The children's play area was a hit . The location of the site is handy for visits into Cirencester itself on foot via the Bathurst Estate park. The town has numerous small "interesting" shops and places to eat. Our favourite is the Black Horse, which offers only "pub grub" but their Old Spot sausages went down particularly well. Days out included Stroud, Tetbury and Gloucester, including a visit to the redeveloped Quays area. A trip to the Swindon Steam Museum was a hit with the grandchildren tempered with a trip to the adjoining designed outlet to entertain the ladies in our party. The grandkids have informed me that a return visit is required to this site. Praise indeed

Fantastic site

We stayed at this site for s week, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site and facilities were clean and tidy. We aim to come back sometime next year hopefully 🤗🤗🤗. When we arrived we were greeted by the wardens who were absolutely amazing, telling us how to get round the site and how to pitch the caravan 😊😊. All the staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Definitely recommend to our friends.

excellent wardens

We have just returned from a week on this site and the facilities were spotlessly clean the site in very good order and the most kind helpful wardens we have ever come across. They experienced a major electrical fault which affected over sixty of the hook ups and must have been every wardens worst nightmare. This was dealt with very professionally and when we approached them to explain I needed hook up due to needing electric for a machine to help with a medical condition they very promptly made another pitch available and were back in very little time to tell us where it was and to offer help with the move. The care shown at what must have been a very challenging time for them was amazing. On a brighter note the site is very well located for Cirencester town but is also close to many other places of interest of which the highlight had to be steam the railway museum in Swindon. A site we would certainly recommend and we will return.

Cotswold weekend

Spent a weekend in mid October at Cirencester. Excellent location for Cirencester with an option of walking through Cirencester Park to the town or to enjoy the park itself or follow the road into town. Both routes take between 20 and 30 minutes depending on your pace. The site, as one would expect was very clean and well presented. It was full at the time of our visit but there are plenty of wash block facilities which are excellent. If there was ever a blueprint for a shower cubicle design, then this is it at Cirencester. Its a bit of a "thing" of mine when having struggled in some shower cubicles. Peaceful location and friendly, helpful wardens. If there was one observation I would make it is this. If one pitches near the exit barrier/exit road, its a pretty long walk along the roadway (if you want to keep your feet clean in poor weather) to the wash block. A path from the bottom area towards the wash block would be nice, especially as there is a path running from the information hut to an area in some trees. I am always a bit uncomfortable about walking close to pitches, wishing to respect other's space and privacy. Perhaps a second observation is the lack of illumination along some of the roadways after dark. Some lights appeared to be misplaced but as most lighting was from the hook up pillar the positioning of these may be due to other reasons not to effectively illuminate the roadways. It was also nice to see a more flexible approach to parking on pitch when one has a continental habitation door, i.e. on the opposite side to British manufacturers. This flexibility was due to enable the requisite 6m spacing so it is born of necessity rather then perhaps an enlightened approach but he Club, but lets not start that discussion here. An excellent site due to its location and cleanliness.

Parkland Site

Only used as a stop over for one night but I have visited before.Site very busy for end of September so hardstandings in short supply.Lovely walk in to Cirencester through Lord Bathurst estate.Park does close around 17:00hrs though.Only downside to this site is the potholes on the access road, and bring your own aerial lead as Site signal poor on the pitch we had.

To noisy & busy for us

Cirencester Club site sits on the southern edge of the Cotswolds so be prepared for a 30 - 45 min drive to the pretty Cotswold villages of Broadway, Bourton on the Water, Moreton on Marsh & Stow on the Wold, but Broadway Tower is well worth the visit for the stunning views over the Cotswolds. The facilities were modern & clean, with plenty of hot showers, free flowing not the push button type. There are 2 washing machines & 2 dryers in the laundry room but no ironing facility. The dog walk is a large field mowed regularly but the main attraction for dog owners is the beautiful Bathurst Estate which is accessible directly from the site & a doggie paradise. Most visitors have dogs, usually 2 or 3 per unit but there doesn’t appear to be any restrictions on breed or numbers. This is a very busy site with lots of arrivals & departures everyday. Being new to the C&MC we were unaware there is no pitch allocation so it is first come first serve, so I would advise arriving as soon after 12 noon as possible to get a good pitch, we arrived late on a Monday afternoon & had very little choice of pitches & ended up on a small pitch under a tree quite a distance from the toilet block. Most of the hardstandings need recovering with gravel as it is very sparse. There are not many water/waste points around the site so another consideration to look at when choosing your pitch. We used the ariel point on the bollard close to our pitch but like other reviewers would suggest you take a long cable as you may not be fortunate enough to be close to a bollard. I paid for Wi-fi & found it to be excellent for emails, checking the weather forecast & accessing social media. If you are of working age like us, & looking for a relaxing break with the opportunity for a lie in, don’t visit here. I am amazed at the noise some people make when packing up at the crack of dawn, slamming car doors, dragging water barrels along the road to empty & letting dogs bark. Then there is the site tractor & trailer that comes out at 9am everyday including SUNDAY & the warden has to wear ear defenders so that’s how loud it is. Sarah one of the assistant warden’s was particularly helpful & friendly but the warden was very uncooperative & appeared to make up rules that suited her, not just my opinion but that of another visitor we spoke to who had the same issue as us. There are obviously ‘regulars’ who visit the site frequently so are allowed the privilege of bending the rules. We didn’t try the fish & chip van that visits the site on a Friday after being told the fish is frozen but followed the advice of a previous reviewer & bought from The Friar Tuck in Cirencester & these were excellent & very reasonably priced. Overall I would say if you have a dog/s & are looking for a short break then this site would suit you, but if you want to explore the Cotswolds I would recommend you try the club site at Broadway. We won’t be returning as the site was to big & ‘more of a transit site’,

Pleasant short break

This was our first time at Cirencester where we stayed for several nights. We received a friendly welcome from very nice wardens who do an excellent job of managing the site. Finding a suitable pitch and getting our vehicle level was quite a challenge, a number of caravans and motorhomes needed to go on blocks. The wardens did there upmost to get everyone settled on a suitable pitch, not an easy task for what are quite narrow pitches by club standards. The washrooms facilities are modern, in good condition and were kept spotlessly clean during our stay. There is a lovely walk through the park into Cirencester meaning you can avoid the busy surrounding roads. All in all a pleasant stay and well worth considering for a future stay.

Great location and friendly helpful staff

Stayed Friday 29th Sept before the Le Col Colnago day at Chavenage House. Very good location and the pitch was perfect to catch the afternoon sun for the last BBQ of the year. Somehow my electric tripped with only 10 minutes before the office closed. Staff came immediately to sort the problem and I had a trouble free stay as a result. 5 star service with a smile. Many thanks. Mick Rennison
