Super visit once again with excellent wardens working very hard

We have just returned after a week at the site and have to say that we once again found it brilliant, we feel the outdoor space at this site is pretty much unmatched, the play fields on the site with the grass maze are great and the dog walks looked excellent although we don’t even have a dog! Wardens were brill, friendly and worked tirelessly to keep the site tidy and clean. We had no issues all week. I can see the issues with the road, it is certainly a terrible and ill thought through approach, however we experienced no problems on arrival or exit with the caravan or at all during the week when we drove out and in several times through the week. We may have just been lucky though I guess, the road wouldn’t put me off though from visiting what is a superb site and location. Thanks for a great break :-)

Cirencester Park Caravan Club Site-Beautiful Site, Terrible Access

We echo previous reviews. The access to this site is deplorable, I hasten to add the site has no control of the atrocious way the road is being repaired (or not). It is our second visit the last time was over a Christmas period and whilst the approach road was bad it wasn't anywhere near as bad as on this visit. Approaching vehicles made no allowance for us who were in a Motorhome and point blankly refused to reverse up into a passing place which meant we and another following Motor homer had to negotiate a very narrow and twisty reverse to enable two local drivers in their cars get to wherever they wanted to get to. I won't put into print the expletives that were voiced about us, by these two drivers who obviously didn't appreciate the benefits that Cirencester get from the many visitors that come to this site. It's such a pity that the stay was tainted by this episode because the site itself is set in beautiful grounds and once pitched the ambiance is amongst the best. We didn't use the facilities this time but from our previous visit remember them to be of the standard that the club expect. The pitches are many and varied and arranged in copses and terraces with trees for shade along with more open pitches. Whether it was just an illusion or because it was very busy but there did seem to be a lot less room between pitched units especially those with large awnings and will fellow campers please stop walking across other guest's pitches and stick to the paths, we haven't experienced this so bad for quite a long time and it may be prudent to point out this no-no to some of the visitors who may not be aware. It sounds like all I'm reporting is negatives but it wasn't like that really we had a lovely stay. our dogs thoroughly enjoyed making friends and playing ball in their own allocated dog field. The town of Cirencester in typical of the Cotswolds if a bit larger than most. Great selection of eateries, coffee and independent shops. "Yes" we will go back and hopefully the road repairs and approach will be sorted. It's too good a site to be ruined by these uncontrollable events.

Nice site, but we won't return!

Having read lots of reviews and watched the videos, we thought we'd go to Cirencester as it's pretty local to us and we needed to do a shakedown trip to sort some new kit on the caravan. It was 1/2 term so that explains some things; let's do the site first as that's the nice bit. The part we were in was peaceful, although it backs onto the college so no idea what that's like in term time, shady (but the trees turned out to be the type that drop sticky dew over everything), and we enjoyed the stay. Others have commented on the size of some pitches but ours (96) was OK. As usual, facilites were spotless, all were being very sensible and the wardens were friendly. Highly recommend Piazza Fontana hidden down an alley in Castle Street. HOWEVER, that access road is not sorted. We got caught, arriving at 3.00pm, by a mass exodus of mummies who'd collected their little darlings from Cricket and Tennis lessons in the Park. I think the biggest problem is the lack of sight line to tell if anything else is likely to come around the many corners, even in a 4x4, and this starts from the main road at the moment (road works on the first section will disappear eventually but they don't seem to be hurrying to finish). In the first section of site access road proper we got well and truly stuck, 3 vehicles trying to exit that wouldn't / couldn't reverse to the nearest passing bay and us (car and caravan) with four vehicles following. The 1/4 mile trip took around 20 mins and was the same at every passing bay due to the constant stream of exiting vehicles. Eventually one far sighted guy in a Discovery held all of the traffic at the Club Entrance and we finally got in. I'm no inexperienced driver, I have a full HGV licence and regularly tow normal trailers hundreds of miles, we've been Club members since 1986 and I've never been in a situation like that before, and I'll never do that again! Shame really, cus a lot of the time it's probably fine, but would you want to get caught in that? I appreciate the Club has had some improvements made to the road, and that they don't own it but to my mind it stil isn't good enough. The stupid part is that the orginal road is still there, lying idle behind the grass bank!

Great site

As most reviews the narrow entrance was tricky. Definitely advised arrive after 1pm. Pitches very narrow, most who had a car had to park across the end of pitch. Staff kept the grass cut regularly. The facilities were good, staff did fab cleaning them. Lovely walk into Cirencester through the park, only 15 minute walk. Had a lovely Sunday roast at The Bear Inn. Our pitch was excellent very quite and peaceful. Walked around the site as found a play area for kids, which was busy but the children were having a great time. Look forward to returning with my granddaughter in July. Something to be aware of is that on leaving you have to exit the site through the barrier, then go back into site at entrance for us to drop our water waste.

Another pleasant stay

Our third time at this site and once again an enjoyable stay. Although this is a big site, larger than we would normally visit, we didn't find it so as there are lots of different areas well segregated by trees. Picking up on previous reviews, yes some pitches are smaller than other sites and you would struggle with a large van, full awning and car. Access road is narrow, but outside of club's control, but easily manageable with care. Good variety of food vans visiting while we were there, as we were taking a well earned break from running vaccination clinics we sampled them all!

Small pitches

The location of this site is great its easy to walk in through the park to Cirencester or even round the road way. The access to the site is not great as many have said and there are currently roadworks as well which does not help. However we had no problems with this. The site itself feels overcrowded the roads running through the site are on the narrow side, this means that you are looking directly into other peoples vans. We were booked onto a hardstanding pitch with awning, yes we could of put the awning up but then there was no where to park the car, a lot of people were parking cars in front of the van, this is suggested for some pitches check on the site map before you hitch up. Our car was too big to do this. Was really disappointed with this site.

Fabulous site.

We have just had 3 wonderful days staying on the site, the Wardens were friendly and very helpful. The access road was a challenge but not an issue for our entrance and exit with our van. Please note the road leading to the site, belongs to the college. We will be back!

Do the Caravan Club not realise WHY this beautiful site is NOT BUSY AND HAS LOTS OF SPACES

You will notice that if you search for pitches during this busy summer 2021 season, that most sites are,as you would expect very busy. BUT NOT CIRENCESTER PARK. If you book a holiday there you will find as we and countless others found. That although the site is as wonderful as ever and the wardens hard working and helpful. THE BIG ELELPHANT IN THE ROOM IS THE ACCESS ( WHAT A JOKE DESCRIPTION) ROAD. If you want your outfit damaged. If you want to experience great stress. Then try the new access road. IMPOSSIBLE. Most members as can be seen from the availibility are voting with their feet. So COME ON Caravan Club GET IT SORTED and we will all return.

Disappointing 1st Trip 2021

This was our second visit to Cirencester, last one pre covid, pre road lay out changes. Not very impressed with very precarious new access road !! And what’s happened to the so called happy wardens, looked thoroughly fed up no hello’s when around site working or otherwise. Felt a bit unfriendly. Because of wet weather and grass pitches being closed off we pitched on the exit road out of site big mistake the number of units that hit the speed bump to fast became very annoying, what happened to slow speeds around the sites. ?? Probably newbies who normally holiday in the fast lanes abroad but can’t go there atm. Hey ho happy days.

1st visit, unfortunately the last

This was our 1st visit to Cirencester and unfortunately it will be our last. Whilst the site is lovely, facilities and surroundings great the access into the premises was nothing more than horrendous. When we arrived and saw the road works at the entrance to the site, we thought that was a bit of bad luck. But when you realise the poor access goes all the way to the front door of the site it felt more like poor judgement. We tow an 8 metre long caravan, which is 8 feet wide - faced with cars and mobile homes parked along a single track road, face to face with tractors, pedestrians everywhere, winding pulling in sections that you can't get a caravan and car into and then to top it all off, battle scared boulders (and I mean huge boulders that would take the side of your van off) along the side the of access route the journey in, along what is probably 1/4 mile long took us over 30 minutes with many close calls. It was awful enough to make us decide to never visit again. Our personal opinion is for people towing caravans not to visit, but people with mobile homes might have more success.
