Good for families

How to shoot yourself in the foot.

First off , I am a local to this site know all about the surrounding area and use it to shakedown our Motorhome. The site is usually full like most in the Northwest on Friday and Saturday nights. The Rake pub next door requires you to book at busy times. Good but expensive to some. 1. We now have to hand our membership cards at reception. 2. We now have 2 white markers to align the van/Caravan to. 3. No bins on site just a communal bin near the exit. A good distance from anywhere to save plastic bags for gods sake. 4. Funds for the whole stay taken at 00.01 on the day of arrival. 5. The site can get noisy due to it’s location near a motorway. Why on earth would I to stay with you?

I cannot see the problems. There are plenty of alternatives to the Rake in the immediate area. Not sure why handing the card in is a problem, you hhave to go  ack to the office once sited anway. The two markers make life easier for us with a caravan, as it is easier to see either side and we have some leeway as to position. The loss of the bins is absolutely no problem. The new large bins are near the exit and you can drop off the rubbish  as you leave. We should not be using plastic where possible and the saving on bin bags though small is a help we should all be trying to achieve. Funds are only taken on day of arrival if you opt for this, just delete the tick to avoid this. There is some noise from the motorway but it is just background and there are far worse sites for this.

Sorry but I cannot accept that the criticisms are realistic. The site is excellent and better than the C&CC site near by, the wardens were helpful when we had a problem, although it is getting pricey.

We've just recently returned from a couple of nights on this site and have some sympathy with the review on 11th March, above.  It was unusual and a bit disconcerting to hand over the membership card and then only have it returned when getting the key fob - I did feel a little bit as though I was at Kindergarten!  I also have sympathy with the 'central bin' policy which is creeping into many sites.  The actual walk to the bins was not a problem in itself but the placing of rubbish in the bin presents those of us who are not very tall with a problem.  First of all I have to somehow hold open quite a heavy lid and, as I have saved the rubbish up, I now need two hands to empty the bucket.  So, this is how it goes.....open lid and prop it open with my head (I am now also on tip-toe) then shake contents of bucket into hopper, hoping not to put bucket in as well!  This method had been used several times whilst on our tour so by Chester I was getting quite proficient at it.  Only once did I have to ask my partner to retrieve the bucket!  Humour aside, this could present quite a difficulty for some perhaps less agile folk.

I was also quite surprised to see the Site Full sign up during our stay when the site had a number of pitches available - why?

We have stayed here 3 times now and really like the site.
I was a bit surprised at being charged £45 for a Sunday night.
From what I’ve been reading on the FB site a lot of people are talking about leaving the club because of the increases in pricing
