Chester with the Grandchildren
This is an excellent site to use as a base to visit the many attractions around Chester. It was full when we were there just before Easter, but despite this it was still quiet and peaceful. The facilities are fantastic, plenty of showers, separate washing cubicles and dishwashing facilities. The hardstanding pitches are generous, but this does mean that you have to pitch awnings on the rather pebbly base. We discovered our pegs weren't up to the job, but the handy little site shop provided some fantastic titanium pegs, which are now an essential addition to our camping kit. The site's very convenient to walk to Cheshire Oaks and useful bus stops to Chester, but you do have to be prepared to brave the busy roads. We enjoyed a good value meal in the Rake Inn, which is just a few hundred yards from the site, and there's a handy inside play area to keep the children amused. One slight niggle is the additional charge for WiFi , £2.50 a day, - and the only reason we didn't give the site five stars for overall rating.
