Ticks all the boxes!

This was a return visit to Chatsworth for us - our first visit coincided with the Christmas Market in November which was brilliant - this time we enjoyed a lovely Spring break. First we met our new pet! A beautiful pheasant who seemed quite at home roaming around the site and occasionally puffing himself up to scare off the ducks! Then having had a cup of tea we took ourselves (and Paris our Bichon) through the secret gate to Chatsworth house and park. As motorhomers we like to park up and walk or use local buses to get out and about. At Chatsworth there are plenty of walks - we went into Baslow village through the park and enjoyed a meal at the Marstons pub (dogs allowed in the garden which has a variety of gazebos for shelter if needed) then returned by an alternative path for a late afternoon siesta :)  On another day we walked to the house and spent several hours exploring the wonderful gardens (dogs allowed in the gardens on leads - such a welcome change) we bought a sandwich and a drink at the cafe (you get a voucher for discount on a drink/snack as part of the entrance fee) and found a bench to have our lunch overlooking the magnificent Emperor fountain. All in all another perfect short break at Chatsworth- could have got the bus to Bakewell or even to Matlock (T M Travel Service 218 from Chatsworth House car park or Hulleys 170 service from Baslow) but we enjoyed our walks in and around the park with plenty of rest and relaxation thrown in. We have already booked to return later in the year:) Wardens and site needless to say were up to normal high standards of Caravan Club - Thank You
