Return Visit

This was our third visit to the site. We love it because of its location, right next to the estate itself so easy to walk direct from the site. Having been before we knew about the congestion on Sundays so decided to leave it until Monday to arrive. Got there at about 2pm, no queues, checked in after about 5 minutes, relaxed drive round to find a great pitch (103) just where we wanted, at the far end of the site opposite the dogwalk and door into Chatsworth itself, so arriving on Monday worked like a dream! The site, as always, was looking a picture - all the planted areas well maintained and the trees just into full leaf. Facilities spotless and, despite the site being almost full, never had to queue for a shower or loo. As others have mentioned, the rooks are noisy, but that's nature for you. More frustrating were the very low flying aircraft and helicopter which we've never known here before. The only real disappointment was the house itself, a large portion clad in scaffolding and the views from the river spoiled by the huge village being set up for the RHS flower show. But the club really can't be blamed for that. Must give a mention of our favourite pub in the area - the marvellous Packhorse at Little Longstone, just a short drive from the site. Family and dog friendly, nice little garden at the back, excellent food at sensible prices and well kept local beers. All in all a very enjoyable few days.
