Stayed for just a couple of nights and to be honest that was enough. We had a non awning pitch and there was precious little choice when we arrived at 1 p.m. on a Monday. It was just about the worst pitch we have ever had on a CC site. Only just enough room for the car and caravan and under thick tree foliage so we could not sit outside the van in the warm sunshine as it was in full shed permanently. Too many vans squeezed in, hard standing pitches in need of freshening up. The wardens were very helpful, they have a good system for getting everyone onto the site at 1 p.m. and we're always pleasant. Undoubtedly the best thing about the site is the location although as a previous review said Chatsworth House was shrouded in scaffolding and sheeting. Lots of lorries driving around carrying stuff for the flower show due to take place at the beginning of June. There had recently been a horse show and the grounds had been churned up pretty badly in places. All in all we didn't see the house at its best. As far as the site is concerned we couldn't see what all the fuss was about. It definitely needs some up-grading and we wouldn't return.
