In transit

Used Chapel Lane as an over night stop on the way to Derby where we wanted to arrive early. Easy site to find, spotlessly clean and very helpful wardens. The longer stay areas which were available if you wanted to erect an awning looked very attractive. Ideal spot just off M42 for accessing the Birmingham area.

Great for the cricket!!

Had a great stay at this site. I wanted to be relatively close to Edgbaston Cricket ground for the T20 finals day. The staff were very helpful in organising taxis and putting us in touch with others staying on the site for the same reason, in order to share the taxi costs. The site was well looked after and spotlessly clean. After a couple of nights I wished that I had more time there to explore the area. Will definitely return.

Lovely campsite. Good facilities except the playground is very small only two piece of equipment. Good location for Stratford and Avon and Birmingham and next door to a motor museum

Great stopover

We just stayed here for one night to break our journey. Facilities were superb and wardens helpful and friendly. Is actually a nice area, so would be worth a revisit for a longer period.

Good for a stopover

We stayed at Chapel Lane on the way to our main holiday further South. It is certainly an excellent location in terms of motorway network etc and what it lacks in quaintness of location it makes up for in its practical location. Unlike another reviewer I am not sure about the blackboard publicising registrations of speeders - it was the only thing that put me off (and I am a rigorously 5 mph adherent!)

In easy reach of Birmingham

The wardens here are lovely and were very understanding when our car refused to start just after my husband and I had booked in. The site itself is large and spacious. We were warned that there may be some traffic noise from the adjoining road at the far end of the site but we chose to pitch towards that end and didn't find the traffic a problem. There was a good playground which kept our neighbours' children very happy. There is very easy access to the M42 by car and into Birmingham by the bus which runs from just outside the site. We stayed for four nights at the end of July and enjoyed the site much more than Birmingham itself but this would also be a great site just for a stopover.

A good overnight for us

We often stay at Chapel Lane as it is conveniently placed between home and members of our family on the South coast.  It seems very well run, and the current wardens are pleasant and helpful.  They have had the brilliant idea of putting up a blackboard outside the office with the registration numbers of visitors who have driven too fast.  Everyone should do the same.

Great site for stop overs

We turned up to a lovely friendly welcome and lots of pretty flowers, hanging baskets and herbs ( that we could snip if wanted - nice touch)! Great stop over for the cricket at Edgbaston, bus stop about 15mins walk, then 30mins approx bus ride. Site was well set out, lots of trees and we didn't feel cramped (we did have an awning pitch). Facilities were very clean and spacious. Some say dated, but they were absolutely fine in every way. The Farm shop/restaurant was closed (5pm/6pm) we thought we could have popped in for our evening meal. Luckily we had planned a meal just in case places were closed! Easy site to access and close to M42, but no traffic noise to spoil sitting outside. Would definitely recommend for stopover rests and of course the cricket!! Thank you to the wardens for keeping the site really clean, tidy and being happy, thoughtful and good gardeners to boot!

Excellent site

Very friendly warden, clean site, with great facilities, all club sites should be like this! Will use this again in the future when we travel south from York.

One of the best.

What a very nice site, even when full, it didn’t seem crowded and the facilities coped. Very nice staff, helpful leaflet on arrival showing the way to shops, supermarkets, pubs and buses. Two shower blocks to choose from, one, as mentioned is older, but still fine, this has adjustable shower heads as opposed to the fixed wall mounted type in the newer block, which I don’t care for myself. The short walk to the Farm shop is a must on day one :-) There’s a surprising amount of choice of food from ready meals, cooked meats, bread, cakes, all you want at good prices too. The pork pies are the BEST I’ve ever had and I’m an expert. Added bonus is you get a discount on everything in the shop on production of a Caravan Club membership card, also in the coffee shop and restaurant. The White Swan pub does very nice food including a carvery, it’s not really in walking distance though. There’s a transport museum next door, it’s now £6 and is only open weekends and Bank Holidays. I would recommend the short drive to Hatton Locks, 21 flight with a cafe at the top locks, parking is limited, but it’s only £1.20 all day. From here, you can walk to Birmingham, it’s about 3 miles on the towpath. Only one thing I had problems with, the hard standing is the hardest I’ve ever met. Blue Diamond Rock pegs only made it two inches in, stainless steel coach bolts screwed in about the same amount. “Take a bigger hammer next time” I told myself, at least a two pounder!! Access is very good, just a short distance from M42 jnct 3. The site is very quiet with no traffic noise considering the proximity of major roads.
