Great site

Just had 10 days here. Welcome was great, facilitates are very new and kept clean. Great location for Scarborough. Some have commented on the building work in the field next door, and yes you do hear the noise BUT….. it is nothing compared to the noise the wardens make emptying the bins, driving their petrol vehicles (the wrong way round the one way system) and cutting the grass! On the Thursday they spend about an hour cutting a small patch of grass (with 2 ride on mowers) only to return on the Friday (with 2 ride on mowers, a push mower, an edge trimmer and a leaf blower) and spent another hour cutting it all again!

Mid week break with friends

Arrived on 3/7 and was greeted by Terri who was friendly and very helpful. She even swapped our booking over so we could be next to our friends. Spotless site and lovely toilet block. Massive pitches which are well kept. Not keen on the nearest pub the toll bar but it is great for kids. The village has some good pubs apparently . Thank you all for a great holiday Christine

Wonderful site

We arrived yesterday 3rd July a bit early and was greeted by a real friendly warden who asked us to pay and when I had paid, he showed me the map of the site and where all the motorhome points were so we could fill up with water, the pitches were very large indeed and nicely kept, the shower room was spotless, and all the amenities were great, we would definately return to this site, one of the best we have ever stayed on and we r looking forward to our 7 days stay here.

spot on again

a superb site, really well maintained and a friendly and helpful team. The on site shop is one of the best and pizza/fish&chip vans are on site regularly. The location is good for the beach and Cayton village has local shops,a post office and pubs. The Farrier pub/restaurant is fabulous. The enclosed DOG walking is the best woodland track i have experienced at any cmc site. This site is tranquil and well managed. I would highly recommend for chilling out and enjoying all the nearby attractions. TV reception is great too. Brilliant for " newbys to caravanning" as the team are on hand to help you out. Graham and Lisa are fantastic.

Disappointing Holiday

The overall layout is odd as it is split into two. We stayed in the lower field which was spacious and well laid out. The upper field looked rather cramped and cars had to be parked in front of the caravans. Two things marred our holiday - the first (totally out of the control of the club) was the amount of road works being carried out. The second was the inconsiderate dog owners letting their dogs urinate and deficate round everyone’s pitches. Also the number of dogs not on leads or on extended leads well over the 2 meter rule. Unfortunately this was ignored by the wardens and on more than one occasion I saw wardens go by on the buggies but did nothing. The noise from the building site was not as bad as originally thought and unless you are going to spend all day by the caravan it is not that bad. There did also seem to be selective speed controls - I was picked up for doing about 8 mph but others were doing far greater speeds and not being spoken to. Lastly children seem to have priority riding bikes and scooters the wrong was round the roads. One almost knocking my wife over. Nothing said to them either!

Sunny Cayton Bay

Second visit to Cayton Village. Lucky to be there in beautiful weather. This is a very well cared for site, with spacious pitches, great modern facilities and a fantastic secure dog walk which our retriever loved. 20 minute walk to a beautiful beach which was never busy and close to Cayton which has a number of shops, pubs and a chippy. The only slight negative is there is currently housing being built adjacent to the site, which does cause some minor noise during the day, but nothing that would stop us returning.

Brilliant week at a first class site once again.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Cayton Village club site. Once again it was a very friendly well kept site. The site is easy to get to and the entrance is nice a wide, only point here is that a little more space at the entrance would be good at busy times. Facilities are first class very clean and plenty of hot water. we will definitely be back at some point in the future.

Returned for our fourth visit

We returned home yesterday after 11 nights at the site Once again we enjoyed our visit and will be back. After reading the previous review I think we must have been on a different site. On our arrival at 1245 the site manager on the gate could not have been more helpful and cheerful. I only saw the mower out once around our pitch. There was some noise from the building works going on off the site. The main site dog walk was closed but on the upper site there is a dog walk around the perimeter in a wood land walk where dogs can be let off the lead as it is fenced in. The toilets were closed a bit longer than usual only because they had been left in a state by someone. I didn't see anyone having problems with their awnings in the wind on the main site. I would like to thank the Site Managers for the time and effort put into the Jubilee Party on Saturday. Im sure it was enjoyed by all who went (most of the site i think). And well done to all for all the money raised for the Lifeboats. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Thank You

I feel sad

It is with some dismay that I find myself writing a less than perfect review, it’s the first time I have done so. The good points. Clean site, excellent facilities but. Now the rest. We travelled 189 miles to get there and as most will know, the Yorkshire moors are not the easiest to negotiate, we had the audacity to actually arrive forty five minutes early. I was told that we couldn’t get in even though there were plenty of spaces and that I would have to wait, he even suggested that I turn my unit round and "go and have a cup of tea in morrisons" having visited Morrisons later, without my van in tow, I urge you not to take this advice, it’s hard enough getting a car in there let alone a towed caravan. He even to, Ld me that the club had changed the arrival iMessage from 12 to onepm as it was twelve, when I booked it was twelve, I don’t have ESP and no one had told me of the change. The man was clearly not happy but I stood my ground. We got in and pitched up, the pitch was good and spacious and close to the facilities and the playground, although on the way to the pitch I was chased by a member of staff who claimed that I was speeding and I was putting the kiddies in the playground at risk, there were no kiddies, as a police advanced driver I put safety firmly top of my driving. In the afternoon we were treated to the lawn mower, strimmer and motor mower, I know that it has to be done but around the same spot for two hours? This was to be an almost daily thing, the grass must grow really fast in Yorkshire. The toilets are closed from 10 in the morning until 12.30 every day so be prepared to cross your legs. Halfway through the week they were closed for five hours for a deep clean, you can use the ones on the top field but be prepared to drive they are miles away. Because of the building work in the adjacent field the dog walk is closed, I’m not really sure why as the builders have put a safety fence up. If you visit the shop push the door, the reason? It’s not exactly clear if it’s open or not because it’s usually dark inside, we saw a number of people arrive and leave empty handed. This is obviously not the sites fault but beware, it’s open plan and surrounded by fields, this means that the lightest of winds comes through gale force, we and several others lost our awnings whilst out, so please be aware. Sorry it’s long but I Hope informative, enjoy your stay and watch out for the mower.
