Excellent site

Recently had a 3 night stay at Cayton Village. The site is extremely well kept, spacious and well laid out. The staff were all extremely friendly, and were very helpful providing all the Covid compliance information required during our stray. Our pitch (no 42) was very quiet with lovely views over the fields, and is one of the most spacious we have seen for a long time. It was also very close to one of the excellent onsite dog walks which kept our very boisterous Golden Retriever very happy. The facilities are beautifully kept, but if I had one minor criticism, it would be that both toilet blocks were closed for cleaning for 90 minutes at the same time in the morning, albeit staggered by 30 mins. Would highly recommend and will be returning again in the future,

Excellent sited club site

This recently refurbished site is clean tidy and well set out. The toilet/shower blocks (although not central) are really excellent. the pitches spacious and most are 100% level. I took levelling blocks but did not need them. The site is really well positioned for visiting Scarborough, Filey and of course Whitby. The drive from Scarborough to Whitby is a dream for anyone who enjoys driving. I was very impressed with the site and will certainly visit again. I go to West Ayton almost every year for my Yorkshire visit but I am afraid the Cayton village site may just put an end to that. The walk (about a mile) to Cayton Bay is well worth the effort. Regards leaving your transport on site? a regular bus stops just outside the site. All in all a lovely site. Well recommended.

Long weekend away

Wardens on the ball here quickly checked in and friendly advice. Noticed roadways have been improved since some others have reviewed so proves CMC listening. Our pitch was fantastic we felt lucky to get it. Site now maturing and certainly not the mud bath others have reported. Facilities top notch 5 star. I can see thus place becoming difficult to book as it settles and grows. Shop well stocked, but three village shops nearby and a Morrison supermarket 6 minutes drive away. We walked to Scarborough by the Cleveland way but areas of the walk are challenging. Cayton Bay its self few minutes walk from site. All in all we were sorry to leave but will return as soon as we can.

Fabulous first ever trip

We were quite apprehensive about our first site visit in our new MH so the super friendly welcome at reception was massively appreciated. The facilities were superb and extremely clean. Plenty of space to relax and nothing was too far away. Our only disappointment of the trip (and it’s absolutely nothing to do with the site itself.. that cannot be faulted) was the nosey neighbours opposite who decided to invite themselves into the van to look around, pick faults, tell us how to do things in future / how they’d do it better.. etc. Like I say, not a fault with the site but just a bit off putting on our first trip & maybe a heads up to others that not everyone wants to be approached on holiday. I’m definitely not judging all members though, I’ll put it down to one small ‘experience’.

Beautifully redeveloped site

We spent May half term on this beautifully redeveloped site as a family. The C&MC have done a brilliant job of landscaping the site with excellent new shower blocks, which are huge, and new pitches and roads. The play area and sports court are also well made and there was a very pleasant atmosphere on the site. The games room will also be a welcome addition when it's allowed to open. There were also some glamping pods - I know some people don't like to see these on club sites but they too were very nicely set out and I think they are good addition to the network. The site itself is well located for a variety of reasons. It's a 20 minute walk to the beach, from where you can join the coastal path to Scarborough or Filey. It's also a 3 minute walk to the village, which has a couple of mini supermarkets, pubs and eating places. There's also so much to explore in the area, both along the coast and inland to the Moors, with a bus stop outside the entrances if needed. I hesitate to criticise any aspect of our stay, especially as it relates to the wardens. There is a large team on site and all do a great job. It's just that a couple seemed a bit unfriendly when there was really no need to be that way. The others were excellent though. In summary, an excellent site and one where we will revisit.

Still a very good site. Great when visiting the East coast, Scarborough and Filey especially.

New site is an improvement though I think a third facilities block would have been a good idea. The glamping area is fairly small but looks good. The site is clean and tidy with a good long dog walk that separated enough from the pitches. Great when visiting the East coast, Scarborough and Filey especially. Cayton has a couple of corner shops and currently one pub.

Sloping Site

This is a sloping site split roughly equally between the main (lower) site and the upper site. A lot of effort has gone into redeveloping the lower site and making the pitches level. By contrast the upper site appears to have only received a cosmetic makeover and the pitches follow the contour of the ground, meaning many are not level. Caravans are readily seen with either the hitch virtually on the ground or their corner steadies at full extension and on blocks. Pitches go both along and across the slope. Levelling ramps and blocks are essential for the upper site. The pitches on the upper site are also narrow with enough width for caravan and awning but car parking across the front of the pitch. For the upper site the toilet block is at the top of the site giving people at the bottom of the site a fair walk uphill to the toilet block. The band system for access to the toilets is now the same on all sites and provides enough bands for the use of both showers and toilets, minimising any waiting. Only downside here is for the gents the urinals are closed and only 2 toilets are open which can lead to queues at peak times, although you still have option of using your own facilities. Once pitched, the site itself is well located. You can walk into both Scarborough (3 1/2 miles) or Filey (5 miles) along the Cleveland Way. The walk to Filey has great views. It is easy to then catch a bus back to the site with frequent bus services that stop at the site entrance. RSPB Bempton Cliffs is popular for bird watchers but gets busy early, we got turned away at 1030am. A good alternative is Flamborough Head. Probably a good location for families with the beaches available locally.

Disappointed

Visited the site as it had been redeveloped. Chose a pitch on area 2, and regretted it. The pitches are not as wide as the ‘standard’ pitch on other sites with space for your caravan and awning. The vehicle should be parked across the front. But the edges are very straight and therefore parking without running onto the grass is difficult. The same applies when hitched to leave - the van runs over the corners onto the grass. Why could they not curve the front corners? Did not use the facilities so cannot comment. But overall disappointed and as a famous PM once said, this lady is not for returning!

Nice site

The site is up to the normal club standards. However it is a newly developed site and the club as per normal have not installed enough service pitches unlike a lot of commercial sites, another missed opportunity. The service points are few and far between and again as per normal, for a membership club the pitch price per night is to expensive.

Great stay

Just returned from a 5 night stay . Location is excellent for the coast and Yorkshire wolds. The bus service is very frequent from outside the gate. The facilities block are kept spotlessly clean with a band system. Amazing despite notices explaining it and the wardens telling us when we arrived. The number of people that didn't seem to know what to do. Pitch sizes are big on both the upper and lower site. The one drawback is there are no speed bumps and the no of cars that were doing more than 5mph on the stretch after you come in ,and along the top road to the upper site is an accident waiting to happen. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
