When the lights went out...
We stayed here over Xmas. It is a smashing site, with great walking opportunities, and the village is just a short walk away with pubs, village shops and a new information centre. On the whole, the wardens do a very good job, but I did need to borrow a snow shovel to clear away a large amount of rotting leaves piled on one side of the pitch.
I believe £2M was spent on the recent refurbishment - so why wasn't the electrics upgraded? We had a short power cut, early one evening - then at around 11.30pm towards the end of our stay, half the site went off. It was 4 hours before an electrician arrived, and one hour after that before power resumed. Problem is in winter, you leave the heating on a low setting overnight, so it got quite cold, plus the fridge was off. And why should we use our expensive gas when we're paying over £30 a night?
According to members I spoke to, this happens fairly regularly. The electrician said the electrics weren't fit for purpose. Come on Caravan Club - get this sorted!
