Excellent site and location, had six nights, very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Would have had 5* all round but young families, i.e. with under fives might struggle for activities. Older kids will love Peak, Treake and Speedwell caverns, don't waste money at Blue John - its all at Treake! Loved the Olde Cheshire Cheese pub.
Love this site as you can walk into Castleton and there are numerous pubs and cafes. Nags Head do very tasty fish and chips. The wardens are friendly and work hard to keep the site and shower blocks clean. There are a few caravaners who were staying last week that really need to learn how to leave a toilet presentable for the next user. We will visit again as it is one of our favourite sites for staying whilst visiting Derbyshire.
This was our first visit to Castleton site and we just loved it! The site was very well maintained and all facilities were spotless, shower block was warm and welcoming. The location is fantastic for walking into Castleton, took us about 10 mins stroll. Some great pubs and lots of them too, some lovely shops and lots to do. The walking around there is fantastic, with many routes right on your doorstep, along with climbing, pot holing and cycling. Just tried to book it for New Year but alas its full ?? Not surprised really!
This was our first visit. It certainly lived up to all we were told about it. Very clean and well maintained site. Wardens really helpful and friendly. Walk into Castleton just a few minutes and lots of pubs serving good food. Museum free and lots to see. Farmers shop in hope worth a visit. We will certainly be back
We stayed at Castleton last October for a few days. Very friendly staff and always ready to help or give advice and information. Short stroll into the village which has good pubs and restaurants. A lovely deli/bakery as well. Great base for our walks. Looking forward to coming back this year.
This is a very good site and nicely situated. The wardens are friendly and the site is very clean. No problems. It is a nice stroll from the site into Castleton where there are lots of pubs and restaurants and a longer stroll in the oposite direction to Hope where there is a great selection of shops including a very nice farm shop.
Many walks from the site & 2 Natiional Trust properties to visit, can recommend Lime Park. Very busy for March but a great site & will return. Ps the general store in Castleton all home made cakes, pies & bread yummy.
Just had four nights at this superb site.
Cold weather but dry and crisp. Warm welcome, good pitch selected from several available. Just timed it right ,the set filled up within an hour!!!
We can see why this site is always full, brilliant location, excellent facilities kept to a high standard.
Lovely area to visit with plenty of walking opportunities. Site well kept and clean.
The site was very busy for a mid week but it appears it's always like that as very popular area to visit. Our pitch was on the road side of the site so some noise from that however it seemed a bit less crowded there which suited us as we has 2 cats with us and we're able to walk them without to much bother (lots of dogs). Showers/toilets nice and clean although I felt the shower pressure could have been better. Lots of mines to visit but castle closed mid week while we were there so disappointed about that. Didn't eat out but will do on next visit. Curry cabin in Hope gets good reviews.
Lovely quiet site.Everything you expect from a C.C . site ,spotless toilet and shower blocks.Site well kept.Wardens very helpful. You need to go well stocked up with food, only two small shops in town.Neverseen as many Pubs in a small town!
