Dog Shower

This is the first review we have written, but with this NEW addition we were very impressed as a regular visitor to this site. My wife & I are keen walkers with two medium sized dogs. Sometimes get caught out in the rain & mud. We got caught out in a massive downpour this week, walking it what felt like a river down the back of the castle. Arriving back to base camp to find a new dog shower! It wasn't there last year. I hope this catches on at other Club Sites. Well done Castleton!

Regular visitor to this site. As an owner of two black labs, the dog walk is a little short and tends to be crowded in the morning. However, to have a dedicated dog shower more than compensates. Very well positioned. Fine walks from the site. Lovely setting and secluded in trees, but with good TV and mobile coverage. Did have to resort to satellite dish to pick up best signal.

First visit

This was our first visit to casleton, the site was beautiful, very well maintained, the staff very helpful, was going to take my grandson, but decided against it, there isn't any play area, loved it tho, will defiantly return, and to top it off Barnsley won at Wembley

Letting The Side Down

Spent a very nice weekend there 13 May through 15 May - the staff were excellent and very helpful - they kindly lent me a foot pump for my motorhome slow puncture - thank you for that.  Could be that we were spoilt by those sites that have been upgraded; Chester for example.  A very nice site that just needs some refurbishment of the toilet/shower block.

View-tastic

We are extremely lucky to be only 40 minuets drive from home to this lovely area. This was our second visit to Castleton club site. The site is beautifully clean and well maintained, the wardens very pleasant and welcoming. If you take a left turn out of the site, cross the road, as no footpath on the left, look for the first turning on your left and walk upwards and onwards you'll find yourself at the top of Losehill from where you can walk along the ridge to Mam Tor, the views are amazing. There are sheep grazing so dogs on leads but there is a good section of off lead once on the ridge. Second walk: Don't miss out on walking Cavedale which is less of a challenge and takes you behind Pevril castle. It begins in Market place sign posted by the side of  the Bulls head, walk to the left then look for a small track between cottages sharp right. Signposted Cavedale. There are sheep grazing but sections where its safe to allow dogs some freedom. No maps required for this walk and the first walk mentioned it would be difficult to get lost, both walks are circular and take you back into Castleton. Both walks suitable for children, and those like me with niggling knees and hips! Castleton village has a good number of dog friendly pubs serving quality meals. No chain stores, just a few gift shops and outdoor shops along with village stores and a small market.

first time on a cc site

just back after a 4 nite stay at this lovely site. it is our first time on a cc site and we are well impressed. site lovely and clean wardens very hepfull and freindly. facilities clean and showers very warm (be carefull not to get burnt). did not try family room as we do not have any children but saw some children on the table tennis. dog walk small but adequate for our little dog. There is lots of lovely walks in the area if you want to try them. A gentle 20 min stroll takes you into castleton where there are at least 6 eating/drinking places to try most doggy freindly. We went to the olde cheshire cheese pub for a pub lunch well recomend it. A lovely fish and chip shop in castleton on the way to peak cavern but not always open. Loved this site so much that we have booked again for next thurs - sunday. this is a very popular site we only just got a pitch for next weekend. Very quite during the week but it got very busy on the friday.

Lovely site but a bit of a squeeze for us!

We stayed at Castleton for 4 days just before the bank holiday. Really enjoyed the area, had a real combination of weather but were prepared for anything so spent most of the time outdoors, either wondering around the shops in Castleton or taking the trail to Hope and surrounding areas. The site was well kept, we didn't have any problems with cold showers as some reviewers had mentioned in fact found them to be a bit too hot at times. Will definitely be back again but will make sure next time that we look over the pitches better so that we don't end up maneuvering our long motor home on to a pitch that was restricted and not really suitable for us.

Four seasons

We arrived for the first may bank holiday and within 24 hours of being there we had snow, wind, rain, sunshine, but we relaxed and also did some great walks. Great welcome on arrival with help on where to pitch and advise on walks. Only 5-10 minute walk into Castleton with great pubs and little gift shops. Will be back .

Long weekend

A brilliant site plenty of space,so you don't feel closed in,everything spotlessly clean.and a great information room! This was our first outing as caravan club members, and we were pleasantly surprised and can't wait to return. If you do visit the site please call the site for directions as attempting from winniats road is not caravan friendly!
