Good ish Site

Having arrived at the site early, I politely asked if I could come on site before 1pm, only to be told no, which to be fair I expected due to Covid restrictions etc, however having had a long journey I asked if could quickly use the toilet as I was pretty desperate, but again I was denied any form of access to the site, which I found pretty poor. Instead I was advised to drive down the road to the visitor centre, pay £5 and use their facilities, but unfortunately when I drove to the visitors centre it was closed! so I had to use natures garden instead, which was not great. When other friends arrived at the site early, they were all told that they couldn't park their vans in the outside overflow carpark and go for a walk, as they would prefer us not to park in their car park until 1 pm or to just stay in the vans until 1pm, or alternatively drive down to the visitors centre in all of our vans and each pay £5 for the day. We found this quite astonishing and pretty rubbish to be fair, so we just hung around the vans outside until 1pm. Anyway once this debacle was over and done with, we found the site to be very pleasant and clean. The walk round the lake was a long one, but we did stop in a pub on the way to quench our thirst! Ashbourne town is a fair trek from the site and the taxis are in short supply and not cheap £25 approx. Overall nice place, staff were a bit funny, but I think this may have been due to them trying to be a bit too over cautious with the Covid stuff, rather than demonstrating some basic common sense by allowing one of us to use the loo! Not a bad location if you are happy with long walks.
