June 2021

Carnon Downs caravan site has been developed & run by Simon successfully & has now been acquired by the Caravan Club, we hope that it will be managed in a tactful manner as many people treasure this site. The Covid precautions need to be reviewed as the elastic band system used for the toilets/showers/laundry meant that the one small red bucket inadequate for the multiple elastic bands leaving many high & dry above the Milton solution. The roof vents & doors not utilised by opening & reducing risks, all left shut. The challenge of these facilities being shut 9-10am for cleaning not easy as no warning given on one occasion.Only one washing machine working, the other two awaiting repairs, very difficult for this large site. Just hope these difficulties are sorted quickly as this should be such an amazing site.

Lovely site

A well laid out site, with plenty of space on and between pitches. The facilities were spotlessly clean and are some of the best we have found on sites around the country. The area across the lane where we were, would however benefit, at some stage, from an additional facilities block . The visiting food take away services were well used!! A site to return to - next time without the G7 at St Ives!!

Excellent Location

Had a 12 night stay in May. Site well maintained and flat. Split into several distinct areas, each area like a small site in its own right which added to the peacefully atmosphere. Very good location for exploring in all directions - the North West coast, the South East coast, or the Lizard. Various food vans on site most nights, so good choice if you want to avoid too much cooking. The only downside was that rubbish bins and CDPs were less numerous than is normally the case on club sites, it was a bit of a trek.

This is a wonderful site. Well spaced pitches, most with own picnic bench!! Toilet, shower and all other facilities spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating. As an affiliated site it is very individual with nothing in the Caravan and Motorhome Club to match. Now it is no longer affiliated we hope it does not change as its petfect as it is

BEST SITE ON THE CIRCUIT

Having toured England Scotland and Wales extensively over the past 12 years staying only on Caravan Club and affiliated sites we are convinced that for us Carnon Downs is the best site on the circuit. We stay on the same pitch each year something not possible with the club but then every pitch is more than adequately spaced out and immaculately maintained. The four shower blocks and facilities especially at this difficult time are also immaculate and cleaned constantly for which we say a great thank you to Simon and the ladies in his team. Just coming out of isolation and feeling completely safe was very important to us and they certainly achieved that. The location of the site is also great only 40 minutes from the Lizard point and St Michael's mount. 25 minutes from St.Ives and with the Roseland Peninsular only 10 minutes via the King Harry Car Ferry Trelissick Gardens (Nat. Trust) are 5 minutes drive and walking the coast path or the beautiful Fal River Estuary means that walkers are really spoiled for choice. Truro with its cathedral are also worth a visit for shoppers and town lovers so all in all a great site in a great location with brilliant ,helpful staff .

WONDERFUL SITE

This is one of our favourite caravan club sites. It is a very nice and very well run site having great facilities including a nice cafe and well stocked shop. There is a bus to Truro outside the site, just over the roundabout, across the road. It is about 3 miles into the city centre of Truro, which is a lovely place to visit and Falmouth is close by which is also a nice seaside town. We have stayed here twice now and will definitely be staying here again very soon.

A Wonderful place to stay

what a wonderful site, we originally booked for 3 nights mid August on a touring trip, but the start of our trip had to be cancelled due to an illness. Instead we booked a full 7 nights at short notice for rest and recuperation. The staff accommodated our change of plans without quibble, unfortunately when we arrived, our newly allocated standard pitch was occupied. Again without fuss the owners upgraded us to a fully serviced pitch without charge or fuss. The pitches are pretty level although some may need the odd levelling block, depends on how fussy you are I suppose! There is plenty of space around the pitches and excellent dog walking area's including a perimeter walk through wooded area as well as the 7 acre field, although it would be nice to have some dog waste bins around the site rather than have to place it in your own rubbish bins. On site facilities are superb and well kept, laundry facility at reasonable cost, good hot showers/ family bathrooms etc. the Motorhome service point is convenient and easy to line up for filling/ emptying and also has a sheltered and clean elsan/chemical waste disposal point. There is a nice children's play area with climbing frames and other things to keep the kids entertained as well as a football/sports pitch for the more energetic. In reception area is a café/bar which does Cornish pasties to order at any time of the day (when open)and they are delicious ie we arrived at 2pm ordered the pasties for 5pm they were there ready and hot exactly to the minute. needless to say we booked pasties a few times! there are also visiting food wagons such as fish and chips, rice and Asian style etc. The nearest shop is a small well stocked Spar in the village of Carnon Downs which is a pleasant 1/2 mile walk. There is a bus stop directly outside the site which goes to Falmouth (U1 Bus) £9 adult return, to get to Truro you have to cross the main road and walk into the top end of Carnon Downs village and get the U1 bus at the Forge (drop off point when returning from Falmouth) which is £5.40 return. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed or stay and would recommend this site. We will return for further visits which should be recommend enough!

Sehr freundliches Personal.Gerne wieder.

Wonderful Site

As many others have said, this is definitely the best site ever. We stayed late May, early June... just a few days after they opened the café/wine bar. Everything about this site is first class.
